TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — The FBI says a former Ohio sheriff accused of taking nearly $100,000 in bribes from drug dealers and others while in office has been indicted on federal charges.
Authorities say 54-year-old Samuel Crish, of Delphos, was charged Monday in U.S. District Court in Toledo with bribery, extortion and making false statements.
DELPHOS, Ohio (AP) — Things have gotten even worse for Ohio students on a charter bus that crashed in Pennsylvania and cut short their senior trip to New York City.
They've discovered that money and belongings was stolen from their luggage.
None of the students were seriously hurt in Monday's crash on Interstate 80.
Life sentence for man in West Virginia coal exec’s death
WILLIAMSON, W.Va. (AP) — An Ohio man was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison with the chance of parole after 15 years in the fatal shooting of a coal executive at a West Virginia cemetery.
A Mingo County circuit judge added two consecutive one-to-five-year sentences for first-degree robbery and conspiracy to Anthony Raheem Arriaga's life sentence for first-degree murder in the death of Bennett "Ben" Hatfield, WCHS-TV reported.
Ohio hands out fines over fish kills caused by farm manure
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — The operators of three agriculture businesses have been told to pay more than $30,000 for three large fish kills that Ohio's natural resources department says were caused by livestock manure spread on fields.
Investigators think ammonia-laden manure put onto the fields in northwestern Ohio ahead of rainstorms in August washed into creeks and caused the fish kills.
Indiana man, Ohio woman die in crash during trip to Ireland
COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (AP) — An Indiana man and an Ohio woman who were vacationing in Ireland with their spouses have died in a car crash four days into their trip.
Relatives say 62-year-old James Baker of Columbia City, Indiana, died along with Peggy Adams of Delphos, Ohio, who was his cousin's wife. The two cousins had left Friday with their wives for a long-planned trip to Ireland.
