Kucherov scores twice to lift Lightning over Panthers
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Nikita Kucherov got back on the board, and the Tampa Bay Lightning continued their roll toward the top seed in the NHL playoffs.
Kucherov had two goals and an assist to lift Tampa Bay over the Florida Panthers 5-2 on Sunday night. Kucherov's first-period goal ended an 11-game span without a goal. It was his first since Jan. 12 against Buffalo.
"We knew it was a matter of time, but it was a big one for us," coach Jon Cooper said.
Tartar’s two goals lead Canadiens past Panthers 5-3
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Tomas Tatar scored twice, including the go-ahead goal in the third period, and the Montreal Canadiens beat the Florida Panthers 5-3 on Friday night.
Jonathan Drouin had a goal and an assist, and Nicolas Deslauriers and Artturi Lehkonen also scored for the Canadiens, who won their third straight.
Henrik Borgstrom, Denis Malgin and Keith Yandle scored for the Panthers, who ended a two-game winning streak.

Hawryluk scored his first two NHL goals, Mike Hoffman and Jared McCann had goals in a 31-second span in the second period and the Panthers defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 6-3 Sunday night.
Panthers’ Trocheck has surgery for fractured ankle
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Florida Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck has had surgery for a fractured ankle and may play again this season.
Trocheck was hurt when twisted his right leg while chasing the puck near the end boards in Monday night's game at Ottawa. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher.
Barkov scores winner, Panthers beat Islanders 4-2

Aleksander Barkov scored the go-ahead goal in the third period, and the Panthers beat the New York Islanders 4-2 on Saturday night.
Troy Brouwer, Mike Hoffman and Denis Malgin also scored for the Panthers, who won their third straight. Roberto Luongo made 29 saves for his third straight win after missing nearly a month with a knee injury.

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Vincent Trocheck got the Florida Panthers going at just the right time Saturday night.
Denis Malgin snapped a tie with 3:45 left after Trocheck tied the game with a pair of goals, and the Panthers overcame a two-goal deficit by scoring four times in the third period for a 4-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes.

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Florida Panthers put together a strong finish Monday night. Vincent Trocheck led the way.
Trocheck had three goals in the third period and Evgenii Dadonov scored twice, powering the Panthers to a 7-5 victory over Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
Nylander helps Maple Leafs beat Lightning 4-3
TORONTO (AP) — William Nylander had two goals and an assist, helping the streaking Toronto Maple Leafs top the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 on Monday night.
Auston Matthews had three assists for the Leafs (34-19-5), who extended their home win streak to five with their eighth win in nine games overall. Jake Gardiner and James van Riemsdyk scored, and Frederik Andersen made 28 saves in his 28th win of the season.
Ovechkin scores 30th, helps Capitals snap 3-game skid
SUNRISE, Florida (AP) — Alex Ovechkin scored his 30th goal of the season and got his 500th career assist to help the Washington Capitals snap a three-game skid with a 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday night.
Ovechkin is the sixth player in NHL history with at least 30 goals in 13 or more consecutive seasons at any point in his career.
Brett Connolly, John Carlson and Nicklas Backstrom also scored for the Capitals. Braden Holtby stopped 32 shots.
Avalanche score twice in 41 seconds, beat Panthers 7-3
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — The Colorado Avalanche came from behind and never looked back.
Nathan MacKinnon and Alexander Kerfoot scored 41 seconds apart in the second period and Colorado beat the Florida Panthers 7-3 on Saturday night to snap a four-game skid.
Colin Wilson, Erik Johnson and Mikko Rantanen also had goals for the Avalanche. Matt Nieto and Carl Soderberg both scored into an empty net late in the third, and Semyon Varlamov stopped 39 shots.
Haley breaks tie in 3rd, Panthers beat Jets 6-4
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Panthers lost another key player in a win Thursday night.
Micheal Haley scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period, and the Panthers overcame an injury to Aleksander Barkov to beat the Winnipeg Jets 6-4.
Barkov left in the second period after taking a blow to the head and did not return. Vincent Trocheck also briefly left the game in the second after being hit near the eye.
Malgin’s late goal lifts Panthers to 5-4 win over Rangers
NEW YORK (AP) — Denis Malgin helped the Florida Panthers avoid a bad loss and get consecutive wins for just the third time this season.
Malgin scored with 1:09 left and the Florida Panthers recovered after giving up two three-goal leads to beat the New York Rangers 5-4 Tuesday night.
Ekblad snaps stick on goal, Panthers top Canadiens 4-3 in OT
MONTREAL (AP) — Aaron Ekblad broke his stick on an awkward slap shot that sneaked by goalie Carey Price in overtime, helping the Florida Panthers beat the NHL-leading Montreal Canadiens 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Ekblad wound for a shot from the right hash marks, but his stick snapped and the puck slid slowly toward the net. It deflected off the boot of defenseman Nathan Beaulieu before sliding past Price 2:59 into OT.
Brock Nelson and Nick Leddy scored for the Islanders but the Panthers tied the game late and went on to win in overtime, 3-2, at Sunrise, Fla.
Jonathan Marchessault tied the game with 13.6 seconds left in regulation and Denis Malgin scored late in overtime. Florida trailed 2-0 in the third period before getting goals from Kyle Rau and Marchessault.

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Panthers spoiled Jaroslav Halak's solid night in a hurry.
Jonathan Marchessault tied the game with 13.6 seconds left in regulation and Denis Malgin scored late in overtime, helping the Panthers beat the New York Islanders 3-2 on Saturday.
Florida trailed 2-0 in the third period before getting goals from Kyle Rau and Marchessault.
Marchessault tied it when Halak blocked a shot but let the puck trickle through his pads and in.
Marchand, Moore, Rask lead Bruins to 2-1 win over Panthers
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Tuukka Rask is certainly a welcome sight in net for the Boston Bruins.
Rask stopped 33 shots to help lead the Bruins to a 2-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night. Rask made his second start after missing three games with an injury and has been in goal for all five of the Bruins' wins this season.
"I've felt good all along," Rask said. "Probably just because of the chances we gave up (on penalties), I had to make more saves, but I felt good all along."
