Going over Shaquille O'Neal in the first round, then getting a boost from rapper Quavo in the finale, Diallo soared to the crown by topping New York's Dennis Smith Jr.
Diallo topped Smith 88-85 in the finale. Charlotte's Miles Bridges and Atlanta's John Collins went out in the first round.
Knicks snap 18-game skid with win over Hawks
ATLANTA (AP) — Knicks coach David Fizdale gives his team credit for not giving up during a losing streak that lasted nearly six weeks.
"I keep talking about this team's character," Fizdale said. "It would've been very easy for us to check out and get on to wherever we're going to go, but we were desperate men. Those guys wanted this game really badly, and they came out and showed it."
Cavs send Knicks to franchise-record 17th straight loss
CLEVELAND (AP) — The New York Knicks' franchise-record 17th straight loss might have been the toughest one to take.
The Knicks erased a 17-point deficit in the second half and had several chances to take the lead or tie the game in the final minute before falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers 107-104 on Monday night.
"It's incredibly hard," said guard Dennis Smith Jr. "No one wants to lose, especially 17 in a row. Tonight would've been major for us if we'd have pulled it out."
Griffin scores 29, Pistons hand Knicks 14th straight loss
NEW YORK (AP) — All the roster changes aren't helping the New York Knicks get any wins.
Blake Griffin scored 29 points and Andre Drummond finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons handed the Knicks their 14th straight loss, 105-92 on Tuesday night.

Pistons rally to edge short-handed Mavericks 93-89
DETROIT (AP) — Free throws have dogged Andre Drummond throughout his NBA career, so when he stepped to the line with a two-point lead and 3.3 seconds remaining, Detroit's victory was far from certain.
Drummond then calmly made both shots to seal the game for the Pistons.
