FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Deon Lyle scored 18 points and Byron Frohnen added 14 points with a career-best 14 rebounds and UT San Antonio rolled to a 71-58 win over UTEP on Wednesday night in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament.
No. 5 seed UTSA (19-13) now heads to the quarterfinals to meet fourth-seeded Marshall on Thursday night.
HOUSTON (AP) — Deon Lyle knocked down eight 3-pointers and put up a season-high 33 points as UTSA crushed Rice, 79-60 on Saturday to close out the Conference USA regular season and prepare for the conference tournament.
With a fifth-place finish, the Roadrunners face the No. 12 seed, Texas-El Paso, in a first-round game Wednesday in Frisco, Texas. Rice (7-24, 4-14) will miss the conference tournament.
UTSA (18-13, 11-7) rolled to an 18-point lead by intermission and cruised to the win.
Smart, Draper lead North Texas past UTSA 80-62

Lyle, De Nicolao lead UTSA to 74-64 win over Louisiana Tech
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Deon Lyle had 17 points and Giovanni De Nicolai scored nine of his 11 points in the final 5½ minutes to help UT San Antonio pull away for a 74-64 win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night.
Byron Frohnen had 10 points and nine rebounds while Keaton Wallace scored 10 with eight assists for UTSA (17-12, 10-6 Conference USA). The Roadrunners are fifth in the conference standings, one game behind Marshall. The top four teams earn first-round byes in next month's C-USA tournament.
UTSA outruns Charlotte 13-5 in OT, wins 97-89
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Jhivvan Jackson scored five of his 30 points in overtime to lead Texas-San Antonio to a 97-89 victory over Charlotte on Saturday night.
UTSA (15-12, 8-6 Conference USA) rebounded from a 38-point loss to Old Dominion that snapped a four-game win streak. Charlotte (5-20, 1-13) has lost 12 straight, including a two-point loss to UTEP on Thursday.
UT San Antonio holds off UTEP 63-59
EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Deon Lyle came off the bench to hit 5 of 8 from 3-point range and score 18 and Giovanni De Nicolao added 10 points, including two free throws with five seconds left, to help UT San Antonio hold off UTEP 63-59 on Saturday night.
Byron Frohnen added 12 points and seven rebounds, Jhivvan Jackson scored 10 with nine boards and Nick Allen scored nine and grabbed 13 rebounds to help the Roadrunners (14-11, 7-5 Conference USA) win the battle of the boards 48-35.
UT San Antonio hits 15 3s in 82-70 win over UAB
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Jhivvan Jackson scored 24 points, Deon Lyle scored 14 and UT San Antonio never trailed as it beat UAB 82-70 on Saturday night.
Jackson made back-to-back 3s and the Roadrunners were up 17-8. Chris Cokley scored four straight and Nate Darling's layup reduced the deficit to 23-18. UTSA (11-11, 4-5 Conference USA) went on a 9-0 run and the Roadrunners led 42-26 at intermission.
Wallace with 20 points as UT San Antonio edges UTEP 65-61
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Keaton Wallace scored 20 points off the bench to lead UT San Antonio as it snapped a three-game skid, edging UTEP 65-61 on Saturday night.

Holland’s hot shooting leads Southern Miss past UTSA 93-83
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Kevin Holland sank every shot he took, including seven 3-pointers, to lead Southern Miss in a 93-83 win over Texas-San Antonio on Saturday.
Holland finished 8 for 8 from the field for a career-high 23 points. Cortez Edwards added 20 points while grabbing 10 rebounds, Dominic Magee had 18 points plus 10 boards, Tyree Griffin scored 16 and D'Angelo Richardson 12 for Southern Miss (9-8, 2-2 Conference USA).

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Freshman Keaton Wallace made five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 24 and Byron Frohnen added 18 points and eight rebounds to spark UT San Antonio to an 87-71 victory over Houston Baptist on Saturday night.
Nick Allen and Deon Lyle each scored 13 for the Roadrunners (6-5), who were playing the Huskies (3-7) for the first time since 1989 when both were members of the Trans-America Athletic Conference.
Neilson, Toolson lead Utah Valley past UT San Antonio 88-80
OREM, Utah (AP) — Isaac Neilson and Conner Toolson scored 19 points apiece and Utah Valley beat UT San Antonio 88-80 on Saturday night.
Neilson also had 12 rebounds for the Wolverines (5-3). Jake Toolson scored 16 points with four rebounds, Kenneth Ogbe added 13 points and Brandon Randolph had 11 points with nine rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Tulsa takes down UTSA 100-96 behind Etou and Taplin
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Junior Etou scored 20 points and Sterling Taplin added 18 and Tulsa held off UT San Antonio from the free throw line with a 100-96 win on Tuesday night.
Tulsa (4-3) shot 11 of 14 from the free throw line in the final two minutes while the Roadrunners could only knock down a pair of 3-pointers, the last one coming from George Willborn III with three seconds left.
UTSA tops James Madison 90-77 in Bahamas’ 7th-place game
NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) — Jhivvan Jackson scored 12 of his career-high 22 points from the free-throw line and UT San Antonio beat James Madison 90-77 on Sunday in the seventh-place game of the Island of the Bahamas Showcase.
Nick Allen added 15 points for UTSA (3-2). Austin Karrer had 11, and Deon Lyle and George Willborn III each scored 10. Jackson was one of four Roadrunners with two 3-pointers as the team combined to make 9 of 20.
