Avery’s late FTs give Kent St. 64-63 win over Bowling Green
KENT, Ohio (AP) — Jalen Avery made two free throws with 3.9 seconds left for the fifth lead change in the final minute and Kent State defeated Bowling Green 64-63 on Saturday night.
Avery took the ball coast-to-coast, driving hard to the basket after Demajeo Wiggins had given the Falcons the lead with free throws at 8.4 seconds.
Freshman Turner scores 27, Bowling Green beats SJSU 85-79
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Justin Turner made five 3-pointers and scored 27 points, Demajeo Wiggins had 17 points, 12 rebounds and four steals, and Bowling Green beat San Jose State 85-79 on Wednesday night.
Bowling Green made 6 of 8 free throws in the final 28 seconds to seal it. Rodrick Caldwell was 3 of 4 and Turner capped the scoring with two makes in the closing seconds.
Turner, a freshman, scored 20-plus for the third time this season.
Bowling Green snaps FGCU’s road streak with 83-80 win
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Justin Turner scored 20 points, Dylan Frye hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left and Bowling Green beat Florida Gulf Coast 83-80 Saturday night, ending the Eagles' 10-game road winning streak — the second-longest in the country.
Frye made it 80-74 with 1:17 to go with a 3, but the Eagles scored six straight to tie it with 6 seconds left. Frye, who was just 3-of-11 shooting, won it with a deep 3.
S. Dakota downs Bowling Green 88-79 behind Mooney’s 26 PTs
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Matt Mooney scored 26 points and handed out five assists and Tyler Hagedorn added 15 points and South Dakota beat Bowling Green 88-79 on Monday.
Carlton Hurst contributed 14 points and nine rebounds for South Dakota (2-0) which trailed 35-34 at halftime. Hagedorn's 3 with 8:28 left to play gave South Dakota a 59-57 lead it wouldn't give up. Later, Mooney made a 3, a jump shot and a layup to extend the lead to 72-61.
