Orakpo out vs. Giants, Titans add Mariota to injury report
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans will be without outside linebacker Brian Orakpo on Sunday for their key road game against the New York Giants, and they also added quarterback Marcus Mariota to the injury report with an abdomen problem.
Mariota was limited at practice Friday after not being on the injury report for the previous two practices.
Jaguars will be without left tackle Josh Walker vs. Titans
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Jacksonville left tackle Josh Walker is out against the Tennessee Titans, an injured foot and ankle sidelining him for the fourth straight game.
Pair of Titans’ starters in Conklin, Morgan back vs. Colts
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans are getting a pair of starters back for their trip to Indianapolis on Sunday.
Right tackle Jack Conklin has been cleared from the concussion protocol after missing last week's win over the Patriots, while outside linebacker Derrick Morgan is set to return after practicing fully the past two days after missing the last three games with an injured shoulder.
Titans linebacker Morgan out ‘few weeks,’ Spain day to day
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Titans coach Mike Vrabel says linebacker Derrick Morgan probably will miss "a few weeks" after hurting a shoulder against the Baltimore Ravens, though left guard Quinton Spain is day to day after hurting his right shoulder.
Vrabel said Monday that it's unfortunate the Titans won't have Morgan for a few weeks as a veteran guy who studies and takes care of his body.
Titans will have LB Morgan, not top draft picks vs Dolphins
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Outside linebacker Derrick Morgan is expected to play in Tennessee's season opener at Miami. The Titans' top two draft choices both are out due to injuries.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel announced Friday that Morgan, entering his ninth NFL season, would have no injury designation on Sunday. That's just three weeks after reportedly suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee in a preseason game against Tampa Bay on Aug. 18.
Titans confident with Marcus Mariota doing bit of everything
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan says he kind of blacked out.
Everyone who stayed on the Tennessee sideline went crazy, celebrating.
As a group of teammates mobbed him , quarterback Marcus Mariota simply stood and looked back at them knowing he had helped the Titans to their first playoff victory in 14 years in his postseason debut.
Titans cornerback misses practice, backup hurts hamstring
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee cornerback Logan Ryan missed practice as he heals from an ankle injury that knocked him out of the Titans' previous game, and backup cornerback LeShaun Sims hurt a hamstring, needing an MRI.
Coach Mike Mularkey said Wednesday that Ryan, who left last week's 25-23 loss to San Francisco in the second quarter, remains day to day along with defensive lineman Karl Klug with an injured groin.
Coach: Injuries to Titans QB Mariota, LT Lewan not serious
Tennessee coach Mike Mularkey says he doesn't think quarterback Marcus Mariota's sprained left knee or left tackle Taylor Lewan's sore back should keep either out of the Titans' game with San Francisco on Sunday.
Mularkey said Monday that he anticipates both could practice Wednesday.
Titans will be without linebacker Derrick Morgan vs. Cards
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans will be without outside linebacker Derrick Morgan on Sunday when they visit the Arizona Cardinals.
Morgan, who leads the Titans with 7 1/2 sacks, sprained a knee in last week's 24-13 victory over the Houston Texans and did not practice at all this week.
"He'll be out this week. He's still day-to-day, in our opinion," Titans coach Mike Mularkey said.
Titans RB Murray practices fully despite knee, arm injuries
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee running back DeMarco Murray practiced fully Wednesday for the Titans despite hurting a knee and an arm in a win over Baltimore.
Murray, who also has dealt with hamstring and shoulder issues this season, has missed practice time in recent weeks. The Pro Bowl running back who led the AFC in rushing last season has yet to miss a game for the Titans (5-3) and leads the team in rushing with 391 yards.
Murray, Walker, Morgan questionable for Titans vs. Browns
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans are unsure whether a trio of players will be able to play Sunday when they visit the winless Cleveland Browns.
Running back DeMarco Murray, who tweaked his hamstring for the second time this season Monday night, returned to practice Friday but was limited in his workouts. He will be a game-time decision.
Titans’ group of pass rushers ready to go to work
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee Pro Bowl lineman Jurrell Casey loves the sounds of opposing quarterbacks groaning as he grabs them, followed quickly by the thud of their pads smacking the ground.
Titans have lots at stake on road against reeling Jaguars
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans are on the verge of a record-tying turnaround and quite possibly the franchise's biggest game in years.
All they have to do is beat reeling Jacksonville on Saturday to make them a reality.
"We control our own destiny right now, and everybody's well aware of that," linebacker Derrick Morgan said. "And we don't want to have any regrets looking back in two weeks, so we're going to be all in, as usual. We'll be ready."
Titans linebacker Morgan returns to practice, McCourty sits
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan returned to practice Thursday after sitting out a session with an injured ankle and expects to play Saturday against Jacksonville.
"It felt good to get back out to practice and be ready for Saturday," Morgan said.
Titans linebacker duo rank 2nd in NFL with 17 combined sacks
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Derrick Morgan is having the best season in his seventh year in the NFL, while Brian Orakpo on the other side of Tennessee's defensive line is just two sacks shy of matching his career high.
Together, the Titans linebackers are taking down quarterbacks as good as any duo in the NFL.
Morgan has eight sacks, while Orakpo has nine for a total of 17. Only Cliff Avril (10) and Frank Clark (7½) of Seattle have more combined sacks, and that's by just a half sack.
Titans defense still looking to recover 1st fumble of season
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans are mired in a serious drought when it comes to intercepting passes and recovering fumbles.
They have forced just one turnover over the past month, and their defense has only six interceptions with no fumbles forced. They're tied with the New York Giants for the fewest fumbles taken away this season, and both teams recovered the ball on special teams.
Sack-happy Titans ready to try their Luck with Colts QB
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan knows the feeling only too well of having Andrew Luck somehow escape him. Tennessee's Jurrell Casey has also squared up to sack the Indianapolis Colts quarterback on more than one occasion, just to have him slip out of his grasp.
Lucks seems to slither away from the Titans far too often.
Titans tight end Delanie Walker questionable vs. Raiders
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker is questionable for Sunday's game with the Oakland Raiders after being held out of practice Friday with a sore hamstring.
Walker led the Titans last season with 94 receptions, and he had six catches for 83 yards and a touchdown in Tennessee's 16-15 comeback victory at Detroit last week.
The Titans (1-1) hope Walker might play Sunday with more rest and treatment. Walker said Wednesday he would not miss Sunday's game.
Titans want more pressure, sacks, turnovers vs. Lions
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Linebacker Derrick Morgan missed a second straight day of practice for the Tennessee Titans with his injured left hamstring.
Whether Morgan plays or not Sunday, the Titans know they must do a better job of pressuring Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford than they did against Minnesota journeyman Shaun Hill in the opener.
Titans believe they’re deeper, stronger on defense
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans' goal on defense in the offseason was simple: Create more depth and better competition.
The Titans' defense was solid enough, especially early in the 2015 season. But as injuries took their toll late in the season, the defense's play slipped. Tennessee still ranked 12th overall on defense, a somewhat surprising statistic for a team that went 3-13.
The Titans had 39 sacks in 2015 and return their front seven intact from...
