Burnell had 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Gamecocks (15-6, 7-1), who bounced back from their first Ohio Valley Conference loss at Eastern Kentucky.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Detrick Mostella scored 15 points, Ty Hudson added 12 and Jacksonville State held off cold-shooting Tennessee State 69-62 on Saturday night.
The Gamecocks were down 51-47 when the Tigers scored with 9:54 remaining. Then the Tigers had six turnovers and five misses before their next bucket with 1:09 to play to trail 63-58.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Detrick Mostella and Jason Burnell scored 19 points each and Jacksonville State held off Belmont 83-73 Thursday night to open Ohio Valley Conference play.
Jacksonville State (9-5) led for all but a minute in the early going and held off Belmont (9-3) which made it a one possession game eight times after halftime, the last when Kevin McClain sank three free throws to make the score 68-65 with under two minutes to play.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge against former Tennessee guard Detrick Mostella will be dismissed if he avoids additional trouble for the next six months.
Mostella, 23, was cited Dec. 14 on a misdemeanor charge of possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia. University of Tennessee police said they responded to a report regarding "the odor of marijuana" in his residence.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Former Tennessee guard Detrick Mostella has a court date later this month after being cited on a misdemeanor charge of possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia.
Tennessee announced Tuesday night that Mostella had been dismissed from the team. The release announcing Mostella's exit didn't specify a reason for his dismissal.

Mostella helps Tennessee outlast East Tennessee State 72-68
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — Detrick Mostella heated up just enough at the end of each half to make sure Tennessee survived a rare trip to East Tennessee State.
Mostella scored a career-high 25 points off the bench and put Tennessee ahead for good by sinking two free throws with 1:11 remaining Thursday as the Volunteers outlasted East Tennessee State 72-68. Tennessee was playing at ETSU for the first time since 1963 and disappointed a sellout crowd of 6,149.
