Wild give backup goalie Stalock 3-year contract extension
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Wild and backup goalie Alex Stalock have agreed to terms on a three-year, $2.355 million contract extension.
The deal, announced Tuesday, carries an annual average value of $785,000 against the salary cap over the 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. The 31-year-old Stalock is in his third season with the Wild, with a 2.92 goals-against average and .894 save percentage over 14 appearances. He has made 10 starts in relief of All-Star Devan Dubnyk.
Staal scores twice, Wild ride 5-2 win over Avs into break
DENVER (AP) — Eric Staal and the Minnesota Wild have their timing down. Too bad they can't pass on the down time.
Staal had two goals, including the tiebreaker on a second-period power play, Devan Dubnyk made 20 saves and the Wild rolled into the All-Star break by beating the slumping Colorado Avalanche 5-2 on Wednesday night.
"You certainly wish you could keep playing if they're going to play like that," Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. "It was really fun to watch."
Coyle scores, Wild beat Golden Knights 4-2
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Charlie Coyle scored his second game-winning goal of the season with 5:31 remaining to lift the Minnesota Wild past the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 on Monday.
With the win, the Wild moved past Colorado and Vancouver into the top wild-card slot in the Western Conference. Minnesota takes on Colorado on Wednesday, the final game before the All-Star break for both teams.
Parise scores 20th goal, Wild beat Blue Jackets 2-1
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau believes the typical sense of urgency to make a playoff push is hitting teams earlier than normal this season.
It certainly seemed that way for the Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night. Disappointing home losses and tightening standings have a way of doing that.
"The sense of urgency is there," Boudreau said. "I've got to believe it's going to be quite a race from here on in."
Bertuzzi gets first hat trick; Red Wings beat Wild 5-2
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Tyler Bertuzzi had a memorable milestone game and helped the Detroit Red Wings get a needed win.
Playing in his 100th career game, Bertuzzi recorded his first career hat trick and the Red Wings beat the Minnesota Wild 5-2 for their second win in 11 games.
Bertuzzi completed his three-goal performance at 8:38 of the third period, converting a feed from Gustav Nyquist by lifting a backhand past Devan Dubnyk.

Granlund, Dubnyk lead Wild past Canadiens 1-0
MONTREAL (AP) — The Montreal Canadiens lost their game to the Minnesota Wild, but not their captain.
Mikael Granlund scored, Devan Dubnyk stopped 32 shots for his first shutout of the season and the Wild defeated the Canadiens 1-0 Monday night.
The Canadiens got good news about Shea Weber, who was hit in the face with the puck while blocking a shot in the first period.
The Canadiens' captain will travel with the team on a two-game trip, starting Tuesday night in Detroit.
Spurgeon leads Wild past Senators 4-3
OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Jared Spurgeon and the Minnesota Wild turned a tough start into a nice win.
Spurgeon scored twice to help the Wild beat the Ottawa Senators 4-3 on Saturday.
Jordan Greenway and Zach Parise also scored for the Wild (20-17-3), who improved to 2-0 on a four-game trip. Devan Dubnyk stopped 24 shots.
Zach Parise breaks tie, Wild edge Maple Leafs 4-3
TORONTO (AP) — With just one win in seven games the Minnesota Wild needed a lift. Zach Parise provided it.
Parise broke a tie off a turnover early in the third period and the Wild rallied to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 on Thursday.
"It's been some tough sledding for us," Parise said. "We played a pretty solid game."
Auston Matthews lost the puck to Parise, who beat goalie Michael Hutchinson high over his glove at 4:21 for his 18th goal of the season. Minnesota overcame deficits of 2-0 and 3-2.
Blackwood earns 1st shutout, Devils top Hurricanes 2-0
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Rookie goalie MacKenzie Blackwood stopped 37 shots for his first shutout and Pavel Zacha scored short-handed as the New Jersey Devils beat the Carolina Hurricanes 2-0 on Saturday.
It was the second straight victory for Blackwood, giving the Devils their first two-game winning streak since Nov. 13-15. Andy Greene added an empty-netter to seal the win.
Curtis McElhinney made 28 saves for the Hurricanes who have lost four of their last five.
Dubnyk leads Wild past Jets 3-1 to snap 5-game skid
WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Devan Dubnyk had a bounce-back game for the Minnesota Wild.
Dubnyk stopped 26 shots to help the Wild beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 Saturday, ending a season-high five-game losing streak.
Defenseman Matt Bartkowski scored in his debut with the Wild, and Charlie Coyle and Eric Fehr also scored. Zach Parise had two assists.
Radulov’s goal lifts Stars over Wild 2-1 in OT
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Alexander Radulov was at the end of his shift and tired, but he was on the other side of the ice from the bench when he entered the offensive zone with the puck and time winding down in overtime.
Radulov's decision to stay on the ice instead of going to the bench for a change paid off in a big way for the Dallas Stars.
The veteran forward scored with 10 seconds on the clock in overtime to give Dallas a 2-1 win against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.
Niederreiter scores twice as Wild beat Panthers 5-1
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The move by Minnesota Wild coach Bruce Boudreau to put Charlie Coyle at center between Zach Parise and Nino Niederreiter is paying off.
Niederreiter scored twice, Ryan Suter had three assists and Devan Dubnyk finished with 30 saves as the Wild defeated the Florida Panthers 5-1 on Thursday night.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Reeling and banged up, the Minnesota Wild were eager to get back on home ice. They took out their recent frustrations on the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.
Matt Dumba continued his high-scoring start with two goals, Devan Dubnyk made 29 saves and the Wild rebounded from a disappointing road trip in a 7-1 victory.
"I think that's all the boys had on their mind, was kind of redeeming ourselves," Dumba said.
Wild score 3 power-play goals in 3-2 win over Canucks
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — A big advantage on special teams was the difference Tuesday night for the Minnesota Wild.
Ryan Suter and Jason Zucker scored 55 seconds apart late in the second period and the Wild converted on all three of their power plays, beating the staggering Vancouver Canucks 3-2 to stop a three-game slide.
"Three goals on the power play, that's the recipe for a win on the road. It's a good two points for us," said Mikael Granlund, who had two assists.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Eric Staal ensured two solid periods didn't go to waste for the Minnesota Wild.
Staal scored his second goal of the game with 5:58 left and Minnesota overcame a sloppy third period to beat the Ottawa Senators 6-4 on Wednesday night.
Matt Dumba also scored twice as the Wild ended a two-game slide and won for the 12th time in 17 games. Mikael Granlund had three assists.
"We gutted it out and got the job done," Staal said. "It doesn't matter how you do it."
Blackhawks build early lead, beat Wild 3-1
CHICAGO (AP) — Jonathan Toews and Brandon Saad scored first-period goals, Corey Crawford made 39 saves and the Chicago Blackhawks held on to defeat the Minnesota Wild 3-1 on Sunday night.
Dominik Kahun added an empty-netter with 58.5 second left as the Blackhawks improved to 2-2-2 under coach Jeremy Colliton, who replaced Joel Quenneville on Nov. 6. Patrick Kane had two assists for Chicago, 2-0-1 in its last three games.

Mikko Koivu had a goal and two assists, and the Wild rebounded from a recent hiccup by beating the Canucks 6-2 on Thursday night.
Eric Staal and Matt Dumba had a goal and an assist, and Charlie Coyle, Nino Niederreiter and Jason Zucker also scored for the Wild, who had a season high in goals. Ryan Suter had two assists, and Devan Dubnyk made 25 saves. Minnesota has won four of five and 11 of 14.
Granlund scores in third to lift Wild over Blues 3-2.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Mikael Granlund opened the season with a trio of forgettable games.
"I hardly ever touched the puck," the Minnesota Wild forward recalled.
Those days are long gone.
Granlund scored his team-high 10th goal of the season in the third period to lift the Wild over the St. Louis Blues 3-2 on Sunday.
Devan Dubnyk made 29 saves, and the Wild got their fifth win in six games and 10th in their past 12. They completed a franchise-record seven-game road trip at 5-2.
Parise reaches 700 points, Wild top Kings 3-1
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Zach Parise hit another milestone in his distinguished career Thursday night. He was more pleased about helping teammate Nico Niederreiter out of a prolonged scoring drought.
Parise had a goal and an assist to reach 700 points, leading the Minnesota Wild to a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
Fehr, Brodin get first goals of season; Wild beat Kings 4-1
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Fourth-liners Eric Fehr and Marcus Foligno teamed for an awkward goal early and played some tough defense late.
Fehr and Jonas Brodin scored their first goals of the season, and the Minnesota Wild won their fourth straight by beating the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 on Thursday night.
Empty-net goals by Mikael Granlund and Mikko Koivu accounted for the final margin. Devan Dubnyk stopped 23 shots and had an assist.
