ATLANTA (AP) — Malik Benlevi scored a career-high 26 points as Georgia State defeated South Alabama 90-81 on Friday night. Jeff Thomas added 21 points for the Panthers.
Benlevi hit 5 of 7 3-pointers. He added seven rebounds and five assists. Thomas also had seven rebounds for the Panthers.

Thomas connected on 11 of 15 shots, including 5 of 6 3-pointers and the Panthers (15-6, 6-2 Sun Belt) bounced back from their only home loss of the season, an 81-68 setback against league-leading Texas State on Thursday.

ATLANTA (AP) — Nijal Pearson scored 27 points with a season-high seven 3-pointers to help Texas State beat Georgia State 81-68 in a battle for first place in the Sun Belt Conference on Thursday night.
Texas State continued its best start since the 1959-60 season. Tre Nottingham and Alex Peacock added 13 points each for the Bobcats (17-3, 6-1).
Texas State pulled away with 18 straight points to lead 79-59 with 2:56 left on Pearson's third 3-pointer during the run.
Georgia State wins seventh straight, beats South Alabama
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — D'Marcus Simonds scored 18 points and Jeff Thomas scored the final four points for Georgia State which defeated South Alabama 69-66 on Thursday night for its seventh straight win.
Thomas scored 15 points with nine rebounds and Devin Mitchell made five 3-pointers for his 15 points for the Panthers (14-4, 5-0 Sun Belt).
Kane Williams gave Georgia State the lead with two free throws with 1:09 remaining and Thomas hit a 3-pointer 30 seconds later and added a free throw.
Georgia State wins sixth straight on Simonds’ buzzer-beater
ATLANTA (AP) — D'Marcus Simonds scored 28 points and made the game-winning layup with less than a second left and Georgia State beat UL Monroe 74-73 on Saturday to win its sixth straight.
ULM rallied from 21 points down in the second half and closed to 72-71 with 15 seconds left. Daishon Smith's layup put ULM up 73-72 with 4.6 seconds left, but Simonds hit the game-winner with 0.9 on the clock.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — D'Marcus Simonds scored 15 points and Georgia State outlasted UT Arlington 63-58 in a cold-shooting Sun Belt Conference opener on Thursday night.
Simonds did most of his scoring at the free-throw line, sinking 9 of 14 for the Panthers (10-4). Georgia State won despite shooting 41 percent from the floor, 38 percent from 3-point range and making 23 of 38 foul shots (60.5 percent). Devin Mitchell and Malik Benlevi added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Devin Mitchell posted career highs of seven 3-pointers and 23 points to lead Georgia State to a 68-50 victory over Eastern Washington on Monday.
With Georgia State leading 31-23 at halftime, Mitchell made a pair of 3-pointers in a 14-2 run to open the second half and had two more treys in a 10-0 run that left the Panthers ahead 58-31 with 7½ minutes remaining. Second-half surges lift Ole Miss over Georgia State 77-72
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Terence Davis scored 24 points and Markel Crawford added 15 points and Mississippi rallied to defeat Georgia State 77-72 on Friday.
The Rebels (3-0) had three scoring surges in the second half 10-0, 12-1, 8-1 and finished by connecting on six consecutive free throws in the final 40 seconds. Crawford, who hit four of the closing free throws, finished 9 of 10 from the line.
