Collins scores 35 as Hawks beat Bulls 121-101
CHICAGO (AP) — John Collins was on the move for the Atlanta Hawks, all night long. He cut along the baseline for layups and dunks. He stepped out for 3-pointers.
The Chicago Bulls just kept losing track of him.
Collins scored a career-high 35 points, Trae Young had 12 assists and the Hawks beat the Bulls 121-101 on Wednesday.
"It's a big part of my game, moving without the basketball," Collins said. "And like I said, I have unselfish guys on my team that are able to find me."
Fournier, Vucevic power Magic past Hawks, 122-103
ATLANTA (AP) — Though only 11th in the Eastern Conference standings, the Orlando Magic are talking about their playoff hopes.
One spot back in 12th, the Atlanta Hawks have not shown the consistency needed to join that discussion.
Evan Fournier and Nikola Vucevic scored 29 points apiece to lead the Magic to a 122-103 victory over the Hawks on Monday in the season's first matchup between the Southeast Division rivals.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — With the Hawks' momentum gone and a noisy sellout crowd cheering the Timberwolves, first-year Atlanta coach Lloyd Pierce made a bold prediction.
"I told our guys at the end of the third quarter, 'This is going to be our best win of the season,'" Pierce said.
It certainly wasn't their prettiest with 24 turnovers, but the Hawks made just enough hustle plays to overcome blowing a 22-point lead and beat Minnesota 123-120 in overtime Friday night.
Trae Young scores 24 as Hawks beat Heat 123-118
ATLANTA (AP) — On one of the best nights of his young career, Trae Young's favorite pass set up Vince Carter, the league's oldest player.
Young had 24 points and a career-high 15 assists, Carter's jumper gave Atlanta the lead for good, and the Hawks beat Josh Richardson and the Miami Heat 123-118 on Saturday.
Carter's 17-foot jumper off a pass from the 20-year-old Young broke a 118-all tie.
"Vince is the man," Young said of the 41-year-old Carter.
Hawks’ Dedmon cleared to play home opener, 3 still out
ATLANTA (AP) — Dewayne Dedmon is expected to play in the Atlanta Hawks' home opener after missing the first three games recovering from a fractured left ankle.
The 7-foot center participated in his first full practice and was cleared for Wednesday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks.
The Hawks are still without three other players.
Forward John Collins continues to rehab an injured left ankle. His status will be updated Nov. 4, meaning he will miss at least six more games.
Hawks sign C Alex Len, who spent last 5 years with Suns
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks have signed center Alex Len.
The 7-foot-1 Ukrainian was the fifth overall pick in the 2013 draft by Phoenix, but he didn't make much of an impact in five years with the Suns. This past season, he averaged 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in 69 games, including 13 starts.
Len's best showing with the Suns came in 2015-16, when he started 46 games while averaging 9.0 points and 7.6 rebounds.
Prince scores 33, Hawks beat resting Celtics, win 112-106
BOSTON (AP) — Jaylen Brown could see the fourth quarter well enough from the Boston bench to know he wasn't worried about the Celtics' recent stumbles.
"If we would have played our normal rotation, we would have won that game," he said Sunday after coach Brad Stevens rested his starters and watched the subs blow a 13-point, fourth-quarter lead to the Atlanta Hawks. "No doubt about it."
Towns leads Timberwolves past Hawks 126-114
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Karl-Anthony Towns scored a franchise-record 56 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for his league-leading 63rd double-double, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 126-114 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.
Towns was 6 of 8 from 3-point range for Minnesota, which recovered after a disappointing loss Monday to Memphis.
Schroder scores career-high 41, Hawks end Jazz win streak
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Dennis Schroder was unstoppable on the offensive end but felt like he could do more.
He asked Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer for a defensive switch so he could guard Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell down the stretch.
"I want to prove myself on the defensive end ... against the best guys," said Schroder, who scored a career-high 41 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter, as the Hawks stunned the Utah Jazz 99-94 on Tuesday night.
Dedmon powers Hawks past Griffin, Pistons 118-115
ATLANTA (AP) — Dewayne Dedmon made the most of only his second start in Atlanta's last 18 games, especially at the end.
Dedmon gave Atlanta the lead with a three-point play and then padded the margin with a 3-pointer, lifting the Hawks to a 118-115 win over Blake Griffin and the Pistons on Sunday.
Dedmon matched his career high with 20 points and had 13 rebounds in his matchup with Andre Drummond, who had 25 points and 15 rebounds for Detroit.

ATLANTA (AP) — Dennis Schroder loves taking charge with the outcome uncertain in the closing seconds.
It means even more when he can push the Atlanta Hawks to a rare victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

Coach Mike Budenholzer said a CT scan showed the bone is healing on schedule, though Dedmon might need another 10-14 days before he's ready to play.

NEW YORK (AP) — The NBA has fined Houston Rockets center Nene $15,000 for escalating a fight with San Antonio Spurs center Dewayne Dedmon in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.
The league announced the fine Wednesday, hours before Game 2 tips off.
The scuffle occurred at the end of the third quarter on Monday night.
Spurs center Dedmon out sick for Game 4 vs. Grizzlies
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The San Antonio Spurs will be without starting center Dewayne Dedmon in Game 4 against the Memphis Grizzlies because of an illness.
The Spurs announced Dedmon would miss the game Saturday afternoon, more than two hours before tipoff.
Dedmon not only has started all three games of this first-round playoff series, he also started 37 of the 76 games he played. He averaged 1.3 points per game this postseason after averaging 5.1 points and 6.5 rebounds during the regular season.
Spurs kick off rust from layoff to beat Clippers 105-97
LOS ANGELES (AP) — With Kawhi Leonard in foul trouble for the first time all season, the San Antonio Spurs still kept it together.
They shook off the rust from a nine-day layoff to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 105-97 on Friday night for their third straight win.
Leonard led the Spurs with 21 points despite having five fouls by the third quarter.
Spurs take control at end of 1st half, beat Pistons 103-92
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Dewayne Dedmon is giving the San Antonio Spurs a lift while Pau Gasol works his way back from an injury.
Dedmon had 17 points and 17 rebounds — setting season highs in both categories — to help the Spurs to a 103-92 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. Dedmon set a career high in rebounds and finished one point shy of his career high in scoring.
Spurs’ Aldridge to miss 76ers game with sore knee
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Spurs power forward LaMarcus Aldridge will not play against the Philadelphia 76ers because of a sore right knee.
San Antonio is already without Pau Gasol, its starting center, who underwent surgery Jan. 20 to repair a broken left ring finger. Gasol broke his fourth metacarpal Jan. 19 while warming up before the Spurs' home game against Denver. The 7-footer was expected to miss four to six weeks due to the injury.
Less than a week from the start of training camp, the Spurs are still putting the finishing touches on their roster.
Free agent center Joel Anthony is scheduled to join the Spurs once a training camp deal is finalized sources tell the Express-News. The contract is expected to be non-guaranteed.
The 34-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Pistons, then waived him in July before signing former Spur Boban Marjanovic.
