Boateng’s late goal lifts Rapids over Earthquakes 2-1
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Nana Boateng scored his first MLS goal in the 93rd minute to help the Colorado Rapids beat the 10-man San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 on Saturday night.
Boateng took Edgar Castillo's short pass and found some room in the penalty area before cutting back a shot that skipped though two San Jose defenders and outside the reach of the goalkeeper.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Dillon Serna's goal at the 88th minute lifted Colorado to a 2-2 tie against Real Salt Lake on Saturday in a match delayed 45 minutes by rain and lightning.
Serna entered the game at the 85th minute and replaced Kortne Ford. Shortly thereafter, Colorado's Edgar Castillo put together a run on the left side, weaved through Salt Lake defenders and fired a shot saved by Nick Rimando. Serna continued his run and from a difficult angle at left got the rebound past Rimando.
Yotun, Higuita help Orlando City to 5th consecutive win
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Yoshimar Yotun scored on a penalty kick and Cristian Higuita added his first goal since 2016 to help Orlando City beat the Colorado Rapids 2-1 on Sunday for its franchise-record tying fifth consecutive win.
Yotun converted from the spot in the 77th minute to give Orlando City a 2-1 lead after he drew a foul conceded by Dillon Serna in the penalty area.
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Marlon Hairston scored twice, Kevin Doyle had a goal and an assist and the Colorado Rapids beat the Houston Dynamo 3-1 on Saturday night.
Dominique Badji had a role in all three goals for the Rapids (6-3-1). They came in with the fewest points in the MLS, but kept the Dynamo (7-7-4) winless in nine road games this season (0-7-2).
Jack McBean scores twice, Galaxy beat Rapids 3-1
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Jack McBean scored two goals to double his career total and the LA Galaxy beat the Colorado Rapids 3-1 on Wednesday night.
McBean gave the Galaxy (6-5-4) a 2-1 lead in the 63rd minute, streaking down the center of the box, taking a centering pass from Joao Pedro and hammering a shot past goalkeeper Tim Howard. Romain Alessandrini capped the scoring on a penalty kick in the 71st.
McBean opened the scoring in the fifth minute, and Dillon Serna tied it in the 37th minute.
