FIU has an opportunity to post a nine-win season for the first time, and a chance for its second bowl win in program history — the other came in 2010, over Toledo, in the most recent meeting between the schools. Toledo is bidding for a sixth consecutive eight-win season, and could end 2018 on a season-long three-game winning streak.
Patterson scores 2 late TDs, Buffalo rallies past Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Freshman Jaret Patterson rushed for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Buffalo rallied from 10 points down to defeat Toledo 31-17 on Saturday and remain undefeated in the Mid-America Conference.
Buffalo (7-1, 4-0) is off to its best start since the 1959 season and are bowl eligible for the fourth time in program history.
Guadagni passes for 4 TDs, runs for 2 in Toledo’s 63-44 win
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Mitchell Guadagni passed for four touchdowns and ran for two more and Toledo outscored Nevada 63-44 on Saturday.
Guadagni, a junior who took over starting duties this season, was 15-of-24 passing for 211 yards and rushed for 131 yards on 15 carries.
Cody Thompson caught three touchdown passes, one from Desmond Phillips, who took a handoff from Guadagni.
Guadagni, Toledo roll over VMI 66-3 in season opener
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Mitchell Guadagni passed for 265 yards and three touchdowns in leading defending Mid-American Conference champion Toledo to a 66-3 victory over VMI on Saturday night in a season opener.

Toledo beats Western Michigan to claim MAC’s West Division
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Logan Woodside threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns, and Toledo beat Western Michigan 37-10 on Friday to secure a spot in the Mid-American Conference championship game.
The Rockets claimed the West Division crown for a chance to play Akron in the Dec. 2nd title game at Detroit's Ford Field.
Woodside becomes Toledo’s leading passer in win over NIU
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Logan Woodside threw for 361 yards to become Toledo's career passing leader, and the Rockets beat Northern Illinois 27-17 on Thursday night.
Woodside's 31-yard completion to Darryl Richards in the third quarter broke Bruce Gradkowski's record of 9,225 from 2002-05. Woodside sits at 9,288 yards.
Terry Swanson became the seventh Rocket to go over 3,000 yards rushing in a career. His third touchdown of the game extended Toledo's lead to 24-14 with 4:03 left in the third.
Johnson’s 3 TDs lead Toledo past Ball State 58-17
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Diontae Johnson made four catches for a career-high 170 yards and two touchdowns, and returned a punt 87 yards for a score to help Toledo cruise past Ball State 58-17 on Thursday night.
Logan Woodside was 8-of-17 passing for 267 yards and three touchdowns for Toledo (7-1, 4-0 Mid-American Conference). Terry Swanson added 105 yards rushing and a TD on just 11 carries as the Rockets rushed for a season-high 335 yards.

Woodside’s 6 TDs lead Toledo to 54-51 comeback over Tulsa
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Logan Woodside tied a school record with six touchdown passes and Jameson Vest's 33-yard field goal as time expired lifted Toledo to a 54-51 comeback win on Saturday night against Tulsa.
From the shotgun, Woodside threw his sixth score, a 74-yard bomb just before getting pounded to the turf, to Diontae Johnson to put Toledo out front 51-44 with 8:04 left. Woodside threw a 49-yard strike to Johnson two minutes earlier, and the 2-point conversion tied the game at 44.
Johnson’s 99-yard return sparks Toledo to victory over Elon
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Diontae Johnson returned the second-half kickoff 99 yards to break open a close game and Toledo opened the season with a 47-13 win over Elon on Thursday night.
Johnson caught four passes for 102 yards, including a 69-yard catch.
Logan Woodside threw for 314 yards on 19-of-31 passing for the Rockets, the preseason pick to win the West Division in a poll of MAC coaches. Cody Thompson pulled in five passes for 112 yards.
