Animal rights advocates took aim at Dolphinaris as well, saying that putting dolphins in pools on tribal land in the desert was tantamount to animal cruelty.

PHOENIX (AP) — A fourth dolphin has died at a Phoenix-area aquatic facility.
A statement from Dolphinaris Arizona in Scottsdale says 22-year-old Kai died Thursday after his condition began deteriorating and he had difficulty swimming, eating and breathing.
Kai's death marks the fourth death at the facility since it opened in October 2016, and it comes just a month after Khloe, an 11-year-old Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, died after a chronic illness.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — A third dolphin has died at an Arizona aquatic facility since it opened in 2016.
An Atlantic bottlenose dolphin died Sunday after a chronic illness at Scottsdale-area Dolphinaris Arizona, facility officials said in a statement posted Monday on its website.
The dolphin, named Khloe, was 11 years old.
Facility General Manager Christian Schaeffer called the death "an extremely sad day" for the facility and its staff.

(AP) — In a story Nov. 27 story about a red tide being suspected in dolphin deaths, The Associated Press erroneously cited the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as saying red tide happens when algae colonies grow out of control due to pollution from farming and other human activities. NOAA says environmental conditions such as light, temperature, nutrients and ocean currents are factors that can lead to the uncontrolled algae growth.

The Cape Cod Times reports the dolphins were found Sunday at Mayo Beach in Wellfleet, near Commercial Street in Provincetown and Ellis Landing in Brewster.
International Fund for Animal Welfare spokeswoman Nicole Fox says their Yarmouth location treated all the dolphins and released them at Scusset Beach in Bourne.

VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) — Semo, the oldest known male bottlenose dolphin in the United States, has died at a Northern California theme park where he was a fan favorite.
The San Francisco Chronicle says Semo died Tuesday at age 54.
