CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — Authorities say a police officer fatally shot an 80-year-old man while trying to serve a domestic violence protective order at his home in West Virginia.
News outlets report Robert Matz was killed Monday morning when Clarksburg police attempted to serve the order. Police Chief Robbie Hilliard says Matz was armed when two officers and one probationary officer arrived at his home. He did not say what prompted the shooting.

Lucius, 56, is charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and strangulation. Additional or lesser charges will be up to the grand jury to decide.
