Second-seeded Bertens came back from 5-2 down in the first set to win four straight games and force a tiebreaker. Eighth-seeded Vekic saved three match points in the second set before Bertens closed out the match for her eighth career title.

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) — Kiki Bertens reached her first final since September with a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win over Aryna Sabalenka at the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy on Saturday, and will face Donna Vekic in the final.

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) — Australian Open finalist Petra Kvitova struggled with her serve and was eliminated from the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy after losing to eighth-seeded Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-1 in the quarterfinals on Friday.
The second-ranked Kvitova landed only 48 percent of her first serves, double-faulted six times, and was broken five times.

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) — Australian Open finalist Petra Kvitova won eight straight games to take control of the match before needing a tiebreaker to finally beat Victoria Azarenka 6-2, 7-6 (3) on Wednesday in the second round of the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy.
Kvitova, playing her opening match after a first-round bye, went from trailing 2-1 in the first set to a 3-0 lead in the second. But she double-faulted on match point at 5-1 to let Azarenka back into the match.

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) — Victoria Azarenka set up a meeting with Australian Open finalist Petra Kvitova at the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy on Tuesday after a sometimes-shaky 6-4, 6-1 win over Russian qualifier Margarita Gasparyan.

Medvedev beats Raonic to reach semifinals in Brisbane
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Fourth-seeded Daniil Medvedev reached the semifinals at the Brisbane International by beating Milos Raonic 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-4 on Friday.
The score was level at 4-4 in the third when Medvedev got the decisive break on a succession of unforced errors from the 2016 Brisbane champion.
Medvedev will next play 2008 Australian Open finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who beat Alex de Minaur 6-4, 7-6 (2).
Krunic wins Beijing opener after losing first nine games
BEIJING (AP) — Unseeded Aleksandra Krunic made a remarkable comeback to oust sixth-seeded Elina Svitolina in the first round of the China Open on Saturday.
Krunic dropped the first nine games of the match and was down 4-1 in the second set before prevailing 0-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4).
In another stunner, fifth-seeded Petra Kvitova was upset by unseeded Daria Gavrilova of Australia 6-2, 6-1.
Gavrilova saved six of seven break points and broke serve six times to oust the two-time Wimbledon champion.
Sloane Stephens loses early at Pan Pacific Open
TOKYO (AP) — Fifth-seeded Sloane Stephens was eliminated from the first round of the Pan Pacific Open by Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-4 Tuesday.

Konta has hit form on grass after a poor season to date, and next faces Donna Vekic of Croatia, who beat her in the final 12 months ago. Vekic beat Mona Barthel of Germany 7-5, 6-1.

Cornet beats Makarova in Kremlin Cup first round
MOSCOW (AP) — Alize Cornet of France beat hometown favorite Ekaterina Makarova 6-3, 6-3 at the Kremlin Cup on Monday to set up a possible second-round meeting with Maria Sharapova.
Cornet won a frantic match which included five consecutive breaks of serve in the first set.
Her victory means she will play Sharapova if the Russian beats Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia on Tuesday.

Agnieszka Radwanska advances to 2nd round at Tianjin Open
TIANJIN, China (AP) — Top-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska moved into the second round of the Tianjin Open by beating Tatjana Maria 6-1, 6-2 on Wednesday.
Radwanska, who won the China Open last week, broke Maria four times and saved the only break point she faced.
