CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — Francois Lewis scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Presbyterian held UNC-Asheville to just 14 made baskets to post a 67-44 Big South Conference victory Thursday night.
The victory was Presbyterian's eighth win over the Bulldogs in 31 tries and the first for second-year coach Dustin Kerns. The Blue Hose now have won nine of their 11 home games.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Devon Baker scored 20 points, Donovan Gilmore added 17 and grabbed 11 rebounds and UNC Asheville won its first Big South Conference game of the season, 71-62 over South Carolina Upstate on Wednesday night to end a nine-game losing streak.
Coty Jude scored 17 points with four 3-pointers for the Bulldogs (3-19, 1-7), who outrebounded the Spartans 40-25.
FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) — Shabooty Phillips scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half, including a layup and two free throws in the final 28 seconds, as Longwood stretched its home win streak to eight games, defeating UNC-Asheville 67-62 on Thursday night.
Phillips shot 9 for 10 from the foul line.
Isaiah Walton had 12 points and eight rebounds for Longwood (11-6, 1-1 Big South Conference). Jaylon Wilson added 11 points.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Raekwon Miller hit 4 of 6 3-point attempts and led North Carolina-Asheville with 19 points as the Bulldogs overwhelmed the Buffaloes of NAIA member Milligan College, 97-60 on Sunday.
The victory gives UNC Asheville 14 straight wins at home.
The meeting was the first between the former NAIA rivals since the 1995-96 season and counted as a regular-season win for the Bulldogs and an exhibition loss for the Buffaloes.
