CLINTON, Ind. (AP) — State police say an autopsy determined that the death of a woman whose body was found over the weekend in the Wabash River in western Indiana was consistent with drowning.
Police say Vermillion County's coroner earlier identified the body as that of 56-year-old Jeanne L. Stern of Clinton, Indiana. Circumstances of her death weren't immediately released.
Missing Mississippi man identified as drowning victim
PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (AP) — A man reported missing in Mississippi has been identified as a drowning victim.
WLOX-TV reported that Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove confirmed that the body found Friday in Pass Christian Harbor was that of 62-year-old Jerry Michael Henderson of Pass Christian.
Hargrove said Henderson's death has been ruled an accidental drowning.
Residents reject funding lifeguards at beach after drownings
SEABROOK, N.H. (AP) — Residents in a New Hampshire town have voted against funding lifeguards at a beach where a married couple drowned last year.
The original amendment to the Seabrook town budget called for $225,000 to fund lifeguards at Seabrook Beach over the summer.
Town selectman declined to support the amendment, saying hiring lifeguards could open the town up to lawsuits and the cost was too high for taxpayers.

Tala Farea, 16, and Rotana Farea, 23, "bound themselves together before descending into the Hudson River." Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Barbara Sampson said in a statement Tuesday. The cause of death was drowning.

2 drown, 1 survives Topaz Lake boat accident at NV-CA line
MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — A search rescue team has recovered the bodies of two Sparks men from Topaz Lake near the California-Nevada line after they apparently drowned over the weekend in a boating accident.
A third man was treated and released at Carson Valley Medical Center after the boat capsized on Saturday in the lake in southern Douglas County.
The victims were identified as 45-year-old Bert Pederson and 50-year-old Jesse Gregory, both of Sparks. Scott Wise survived.

ALPENA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A 60-year-old woman has died in northern Michigan after her snowmobile broke through ice on a lake.
The Alpena News reports that police and other rescuers were able to reach Lynne Bever but couldn't immediately pull her from Long Lake in Alpena County. She was pronounced dead at a hospital Friday.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Police found the body of a 1-year-old girl Friday at an Albuquerque home, ending a search for the child that began after officers learned her father had told a relative she drowned in a bathtub, a spokesman said.
Officers found the body of Anastazia Zuber at a home in the northeast area of New Mexico's largest city, police spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said in a statement. An autopsy is pending to determine her cause of death.

Rues says the man then got out of his vehicle and fled on foot.
Man’s drowning at Ohio hotel pool not considered suspicious
RICHFIELD, Ohio (AP) — Police say the death of a 26-year-old man who drowned at a hotel pool near Cleveland doesn't appear to be suspicious.
A detective says the man was with family members Wednesday at the Days Inn & Suites pool in Richfield when he started flailing and calling for help.

Safety group: 2018 has been deadly year on Great Lakes
HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) — A water safety nonprofit group says 2018 has been a deadly year on the Great Lakes, with at least 110 drownings recorded.
The Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project , which has tracked drowning deaths since 2010, says this is the first year that it's recorded more than 100 drownings. The Holland Sentinel reports the hot summer may have been a factor in the increase. The deaths include 39 in Lake Michigan and 35 in Lake Erie.
Police pull body from Winooski River
WINOOSKI, Vt. (AP) — Police in Vermont say a man drowned in the Winooski River over the weekend.
Winooski police say they found 39-year-old Silic Nai's body late Saturday near the Winooski One Hydro Plant. The body was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, where the cause of death was ruled as an accidental drowning.
Police describe Nai as a transient and say he was identified through fingerprint analysis. Police have not released further information about the investigation.
