ABILENE, Texas (AP) — Jalone Friday scored 21 points and Jaren Lewis added 13 and Abilene Christian beat Houston Baptist 75-68 on Wednesday night.

The Wildcats (15-3, 4-1 Southland Conference) have won three straight and are averaging 74.3 points in that span. The Huskies entered leading the conference in scoring at 82.2 points per game while the Wildcats were tops in scoring defense allowing 63.4 per game.

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Kevin Johnson scored 19 points, the last two on a short floater with 2.4 seconds left and Nicholls defeated Houston Baptist 77-76 on Saturday.

Houston Baptist had taken the lead on a 3-point play by Ian DuBose with 12 seconds to go.

Brandon Moore's 3-pointer with 1:05 remaining, gave Nicholls its biggest lead, 72-72. Houston Baptist got one point back when Philip McKenzie grabbed an offensive rebound at 49 seconds and made the second of two free throws.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Josh Sharkey scored 24 points with five 3-pointers and five assists, Brandon Austin hit six 3-pointers and scored 22 points, and Samford pulled away early to beat Houston Baptist 85-61 on Monday night to win its third straight.

Northwestern State hit 11 of its first 15 shots to take a quick, 22-7 lead, but the Huskies closed the half on a 30-17 run over the final 10 minutes to trail by just four at intermission, 43-39 of the first half.

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Roddy Peters made 21 points while grabbing 12 rebounds and Tevon Saddler added 22 points as Nicholls overwhelmed Houston Baptist 94-67 on Saturday afternoon.

Nicholls (16-9, 10-2) has won eight of its last nine games to remain atop the Southland Conference standings. The Colonels will welcome Sam Houston State, one of three teams currently tied for second place, on Wednesday.

HOUSTON (AP) — Roddy Peters scored 18 of his 24 points in the second half, including two free throws with 21 seconds left, to help Nicholls beat Houston Baptist 72-71 on Saturday night.

Peters made 8 of 15 from the field, 8 of 12 from the free-throw line, grabbed eight rebounds and had four assists. Stevie Repichowski hit three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points and Tevon Saddler scored 10 for Nicholls (9-8, 3-1 Southland Conference).

HOUSTON (AP) — David Caraher had 20 points and eight rebounds and led seven Houston Baptist players in double figures as the Huskies overwhelmed Arlington Baptist 108-67 on Tuesday night.

Houston Baptist (1-1), which opened with an 84-55 loss to Providence, charged out to a 51-32 lead at the break and poured it on in the second half.

Caraher, a freshman who had 19 points and seven rebounds against Providence, was 8 of 13 from the floor against Arlington Baptist, which competes in the NCCAA.
