LAS VEGAS (AP) — The skies around Nevada's largest cities are about to see more drone aircraft, after federal agencies picked the state for testing remote-controlled vehicles in urban airspace.
The Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Department of Transportation announced Jan. 15 that the Nevada UAS Test Site Smart Silver State program will oversee testing in Reno, with additional testing in suburban Henderson near Las Vegas and the Colorado River resort city of Laughlin.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters on Tuesday that Trump will be at the event, which will take place next month. The annual Davos event courts high-profile businesspeople and political figures, plus thinkers, artists, musicians, innovators and other elites.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he and President Donald Trump had a "productive" meeting Wednesday to discuss one of the Northeast's most pressing transportation needs: a new rail tunnel under the Hudson River.
While Trump made no assurances about federal funding for the project, Cuomo said, the Republican president was receptive and said he wants to find a way forward. U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly also attending the lunch meeting.

KENAI, Alaska (AP) — Workers have begun the remodel of the 52-year-old terminal at the Kenai Municipal Airport.
Construction to modernize the terminal began in mid-October, the Peninsula Clarion reported .
"There's only going to be a small amount of work done before winter comes," said city manager Paul Ostrander. The bulk of the work will start in April or May, he said.

PHOENIX -- The way Gov. Doug Ducey sees it, Arizona rest stops would be better if there were Starbucks coffee shops, Cracker Barrel restaurants and perhaps even AM/PM gas stations.
What would make them better, said press aide Daniel Scarpinato, is that the companies that would locate adjacent to highways would be willing to pay money to the state. SCOTTSBLUFF — Sens. Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse and Congressman Adrian Smith sent a joint letter to Elaine Chao, secretary, U.S. Department of Transportation, raising concerns about the DOT decision to terminated Essential Air Service in Nebraska communities.
