LAS VEGAS (AP) — Elijah Bryant and Yoeli Childs combined to score 49 points and No. 3 seed BYU advanced to the West Coast Conference semifinals for the fifth straight year after posting an 85-79 win over sixth-seeded San Diego in a tournament quarterfinal Saturday at the Orleans Arena.
The Cougars (23-9) will face the Saint Mary's-Pepperdine winner in the second of two semifinals Monday.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Ho hum, it's another West Coast Conference championship for Gonzaga.
Johnathan Williams scored 16 points, and the sixth-ranked Bulldogs clinched the conference title with a 79-65 victory over BYU on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs (27-4, 17-1) have won at least a share of 18 of the past 19 regular-season WCC championships, including each of the past six seasons.
Bryant, Childs score 15, BYU turns back Portland 72-60
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Elijah Bryant and Yoeli Childs scored 15 points apiece and Brigham Young defeated Portland 72-60 on Thursday night.
Dalton Nixon added 14 points for the Cougars (22-8, 11-6 West Coast Conference) and Childs had 13 rebounds for his 14th double-double. The third-place Cougars close the regular season at home on Saturday against league-leader and No. 6 ranked Gonzaga.
Marcus Shaver Jr. scored 21 points for the Pilots (10-20, 4-13), who dropped their fifth straight.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Isaiah Pineiro came off the bench to score 20 points and San Diego defeated BYU 75-62 on Saturday, snapping a five-game losing streak to the Cougars.
Cameron Neubauer had three 3-pointers and scored 14 points for USD (17-11, 8-8 West Coast Conference) with Olin Carter III adding 13 points with 8-of-8 free-throw shooting in surpassing 1,000 career points. USD shot 49 percent, made 9 of 21 from the arc and 24 of 32 free throws.

Elijah Bryant and T.J. Haws added 14 points and six assists apiece and Dalton Nixon 12 points for the Cougars (19-7, 8-5 West Coast Conference), who had 22 assists on 34 baskets.
Kai Healy led the Broncos (8-17, 5-8) with 12 points) and Josip Vrankic and K.J. Feagin had 11 each.
Batemon leads Loyola Marymount to 76-69 upset over BYU
LOS ANGELES (AP) — James Batemon poured in 28 points and added four rebounds, four assists and three steals and Loyola Marymount stunned BYU 76-69 on Thursday night.
Eli Scott, a freshman, totaled 19 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double and first in West Coast Conference play for the Lions (7-15, 2-9). Zafir Williams added 12 points off the bench on 5-of-6 shooting. LMU beat BYU (18-6, 7-4) for only the fifth time in 19 tries and lost at BYU 82-67 last month.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Elijah Bryant had 28 points on a nearly perfect shooting night on Saturday and BYU pulled away late to beat Pacific 80-65.
Bryant was 8 of 9 from both the field and the foul line, including hitting all four of his 3-point attempts, and grabbed seven rebounds for the Cougars (18-5, 7-3 West Coast Conference). BYU solidified its hold on third place in conference standings.

The BYU men’s basketball team has relied heavily on its rotation of seven players for most of the 2017-18 season: Yoeli Childs, Elijah Bryant, TJ Haws, Zac Seljaas Jahshire Hardnett, McKay Cannon and Luke Worthington.
For the last 11 games, the next player off the bench has been sophomore Payton Dastrup and he has had flashes where he has played well. He’s still just averaging 8.3 minutes per game, which means he’s not taking a lot of pressure off the other guys yet.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — TJ Haws scored 24 points and BYU rallied past San Diego, 74-58 in a West Coast Conference battle Saturday night.
BYU now has won four straight after an upset loss at Pacific on Jan. 6.
While the BYU defense has definitely improved this season — the Cougars are second in the West Coast Conference in points allowed at 65.2 per game — it’s the offense that is putting up some insane numbers lately.
In the three games since Zac Seljaas moved into the starting lineup, BYU is 3-0, averaging 83 points, shooting 60 percent from the field and 51 percent from the 3-point line. The Cougars offensive efficiency has been spectacular, assisting on 74 percent on their made field goals.

With Bryant making 7 of 9 shots, including 4 of his 5 3-pointers, the Cougars (16-4, 5-2 West Coast Conference) shot 67 percent and rolled to a 46-29 lead at halftime. Bryant had five points in an early 20-2 run that pushed the lead to 11 and the margin was in double figures for the last 14½ minutes. BYU opened the game making 11 of 13 shots.
Childs, hot shooting BYU run away from Santa Clara 84-50
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Yoeli Childs had 22 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high eight assists on Saturday night to help BYU beat Santa Clara 84-50.
Childs had 16 points, six rebounds and six assists in the first half when the Cougars built a 46-28 lead by shooting 19 of 24 (79 percent) from the field and outrebounding the Broncos 19-2.
BYU is still looking for that consistent third scorer, but the two it has can definitely carry the team on a given night.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Elijah Bryant scored 17 points with nine rebounds and nine assists, TJ Haws scored 20 points and BYU defeated Illinois State 80-68 on Wednesday night.
Bryant started off with a 3-pointer and Yoeli Childs and Jahshire Hardnett each added jumpers three minutes in and the Cougars never trailed. BYU went on an 11-0 run in which the Redbirds went close to five minutes without scoring. Bryant made back-to-back 3s for a 28-7 lead with 6:55 before intermission.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Elijah Bryant came off the bench to score 22 points and Yoeli Childs added 21 as BYU rallied in the second half to knock off Niagara 95-88 on Tuesday night.
Bryant made 13 of 14 free throws to garner most of his points. Childs was 10 of 17 from the floor. TJ Haws added 18 points with six rebounds and six assists for BYU (3-1) which got back in the win column after dropping an 89-75 decision to UT Arlington Saturday night.
UT Arlington coasts to 89-75 win over BYU
PROVO, Utah (AP) — Kevin Hervey scored 23 points, Erick Neal added 20 more while dishing out 10 assists and UT Arlington rolled to an 89-75 win over BYU on Saturday night.
UT Arlington (2-0) took control midway through the opening half with a 22-4 run that included eight points by Hervey and was capped with Neal's 3-pointer to go up 32-17 with 4:21 left before the break. The margin stayed in double figures the rest of the way.
Bryant lifts BYU to 91-61 win over Mississippi Valley St.
PROVO, Utah (AP) — Elijah Bryant scored 27 points and was 10-for-11 shooting and Yoeli Childs had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Brigham Young dismantled Mississippi Valley State 91-61 in the season opener for both teams Saturday night.
Childs added six assists and five blocked shots and TJ Haws added 14 points and five assists. The Cougars, who are 3-0 all-time against Mississippi Valley State, never trailed.
