The Detroit Lions lost some depth along the offensive line on Tuesday when the team announced Emmett Cleary has been placed on the reserve/retired list.
Cleary, 27, signed with the Lions last September, after he had been waived by the Cowboys. The 6-foot-7, 320-pounder appeared in seven games in 2017, including starting in place of T.J. Lang in the team's Week 6 loss to New Orleans.
Lions offensive guard T.J. Lang to start vs. Bears
Detroit – The Lions announced they would be down two starting offensive lineman earlier in the week, but at least it's not three. Guard T.J. Lang, who had been listed as questionable with a foot injury, is active and will start against the Chicago Bears.
Defensive end Ziggy Ansah (ankle), who was the other starter listed as questionable, is also active.
Tampa, Fla. — Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, who entered the day questionable with a hand injury, will make his 109th consecutive start on Sunday against the Buccaneers.
Stafford practiced on a limited basis throughout the week after having his hand accidentally stepped on by Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs last Sunday.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford is questionable for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay because of his injured throwing hand. He has not missed a start since the 2010 season.
According to the team's injury report, Stafford was limited at practice Friday. His right hand was stepped on during last week's loss at Baltimore.
Lions DE Ansah active, Vikings OT Remmers inactive
DETROIT (AP) — Detroit Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah is active after missing two games with a back injury.
Ansah had been listed as questionable for Thursday's game against Minnesota.
Vikings right tackle Mike Remmers is inactive. He had been questionable because of a concussion. Rashod Hill is starting at right tackle.
Lions’ Tate active against Steelers despite shoulder issue
DETROIT (AP) — Golden Tate is active for the Detroit Lions in Sunday night's game against Pittsburgh despite a shoulder issue that limited the receiver in practice this past week.
Pittsburgh receiver Martavis Bryant is inactive after his social media outburst following a victory over Cincinnati last weekend.
Tate is the Lions' leader with 36 catches for 363 yards this season.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit Lions receiver Golden Tate is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against Pittsburgh because of a shoulder injury.
Tate has been limited in practice this week. He is Detroit's leading receiver, with 36 catches for 363 yards on the season.
Detroit receiver Kenny Golladay (hamstring) has been ruled out for this weekend's game, and so have tackles Greg Robinson (ankle) and Emmett Cleary (ankle).
Allen Park — Lions wide receiver Golden Tate made a surprising return to practice Wednesday.
He's currently dealing with an AC joint sprain, according to the NFL Network, which also reported it would sideline him a couple weeks.

Allen Park — For NFL ironman Glover Quin, it appears the bye week couldn't have come at a better time.
The Lions safety suffered a concussion in the third quarter of the team's Week 6 loss to the New Orleans Saints, after colliding with teammate A'Shawn Robinson. But Quin was on the practice field Monday, suggesting there's a good chance he'll be able to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.
Lions sign new punter, put Redfern on IR
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions have signed punter Jeff Locke after Kasey Redfern went down with a knee injury in the season opener.
The Lions announced Tuesday they were putting Redfern and offensive tackle Corey Robinson on injured reserve. Robinson has a foot injury.
Detroit also signed offensive tackle Emmett Cleary.
