If Acuna dropped down, Inciarte or Albies could lead off
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) — If Ronald Acuna Jr. is dropped down in the Atlanta Braves' batter order, Ender Inciarte and Ozzie Albies could be the top candidates to lead off.
Red Sox get 3 Gold Glove winners
Mookie Betts and the Boston Red Sox just keep winning.
Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Ian Kinsler won Gold Gloves for the World Series champion Red Sox on Sunday night, and the Atlanta Braves also were recognized for their fielding excellence this season.
The 26-year-old Betts won for the third straight year. He also is a top contender for the AL MVP award.

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Josef Martinez knew he was receiving one of Major League Soccer's top awards.
The Atlanta United star was caught off guard by the presenter.

Teheran sharp in playoff audition, Braves fall to Mets 4-1
NEW YORK (AP) — Julio Teheran delivered a final pitch, watched the shortstop drift back to make a nice catch and walked off the mound clapping his right hand and glove together.
After the game, Braves manager Brian Snitker applauded Teheran, too.
Teheran looked sharp in his last audition to become part of Atlanta's playoff rotation, throwing two-hit ball for six innings Thursday night in a 4-1 loss to the New York Mets.
"That's the way I wanted to finish the regular season," Teheran said.
Braves rally in 9th, beat skidding D-backs 9-5, boost lead
PHOENIX (AP) — Ender Inciarte failed to execute a sacrifice bunt in the ninth inning. It worked out just fine for the Atlanta Braves.
Facing a 3-2 count with two men on, Inciarte swung away and hit a go-ahead, three-run homer during a six-run rally, and the Braves went on to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-5 and increase their NL East lead to 4½ games.
The Braves took advantage of a loss by Philadelphia to match their biggest division edge of the season. Atlanta took three of four in the series.
Swanson saves Braves in 10th for 5-4 win over Diamondbacks
PHOENIX (AP) — The series between National League playoff hopefuls Atlanta and Arizona has been a wild ride, and Saturday night's ending might have topped them all.
Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson made a diving stop on the outfield grass and cut down Nick Ahmed at home plate for the final out to preserve Atlanta's 5-4 victory in 10 innings.
"He just gave every last bit of energy he had and obviously won the game for us," Braves manager Brian Snitker said.
Braun, Moustakas, Hader deliver big in Brewers’ win
ATLANTA (AP) — Ryan Braun's spectacular catch in left field was just what the Milwaukee Brewers needed with another potential loss looming.
With a runner on second base and the Brewers down one run to the Braves with two outs in the seventh inning, Braun ran hard to his right and dove to rob pinch-hitter Ender Inciarte of extra bases.
Milwaukee followed up Braun's play with a three-run eighth and got a 4-2 win over Atlanta on Saturday night that will help its NL playoff chances.
Gausman, Inciarte power Braves past Brewers
ATLANTA (AP) — Kevin Gausman loves pitching in a pennant race.
The games have meaning, and the fans are engaged. That was hardly the case before the Atlanta Braves acquired him from Baltimore.
"As a player to come into it, it's exciting," Gausman said. "I could tell from the first day I got here that these guys are the real deal. They want to win, not just now but in the future."
WASHINGTON (AP) — Not too many teams locked in a pennant race get excited about a doubleheader split.
That wasn't the case with the Atlanta Braves, who were absolutely delighted after Ender Inciarte snapped a ninth-inning tie with a two-run triple in a 3-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.
The thing is, the Braves had already lost the opener 8-3 and were going up against three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer in the latter half of the day-night doubleheader.
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Adam Duvall from the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night to bolster their lineup, especially against left-handers, for a postseason push.
Duvall was targeted for a platoon role, starting against left-handers. The move will cut into Ender Inciarte's playing time.
For the Reds, the trade opens the way for full-time roles for corner outfielders Jesse Winker and Scott Schebler while adding three young players.
ATLANTA (AP) — Braves left-hander Sean Newcomb apologized to his teammates on Monday for racist, homophobic and sexist tweets he sent as a teenager.
Newcomb's apology was delivered in a meeting attended by players, coaches, manager Brian Snitker and Atlanta staff.
Ender Inciarte and Dansby Swanson said players accepted the apology. Each said tweets made public on Sunday did not represent Newcomb's actions on the team.
TORONTO (AP) — Johan Camargo came up big from the bottom of the Atlanta Braves' lineup.
The No. 9 batter hit his first career grand slam and went 4 for 5 with five RBIs, and the Braves beat the Blue Jays 11-4 on Tuesday night to snap Toronto's home winning streak at seven games.
The bottom four hitters in Atlanta's lineup, DH Kurt Suzuki, outfielders Charlie Culberson and Ender Inciarte, and third baseman Camargo, went 11 for 18 with five doubles and two home runs.
ATLANTA (AP) — Another strong effort from Anibal Sanchez has the first-place Atlanta Braves facing a sudden surplus of starting pitchers.
Sanchez allowed only four hits in seven scoreless innings, Ender Inciarte homered and scored two runs and the Braves, helped by a strange replay ruling, beat the San Diego Padres 4-2 on Thursday night.
Albies slam, Freeman HR lift Braves over Mets 8-2
ATLANTA (AP) — Ozzie Albies watched the ball sail into the right-field seats and savored the moment.
"It feels great," he said. "I just see the ball going and I just enjoyed it."
Albies hit a grand slam and Freddie Freeman homered during a six-run sixth inning, and the Atlanta Braves beat the reeling New York Mets 8-2 on Tuesday night.
NEW YORK (AP) — Gabby DiMarco toasted herself — after she caught a foul ball in her beer cup.
ATLANTA (AP) — Sean Newcomb couldn't summon the usual bite on his fastball, so he decided to just settle in and pitch.
"I didn't have my best stuff all around, I'd say, but I was able to get some fastballs in the zone, make other things work a little bit, get some weak contact," he said. "That's all I was trying to do."

Braves rally past Familia, Mets for 4-3 win
ATLANTA (AP) — A pair of perfectly placed ground balls helped the Atlanta Braves pull off an unexpected win over the New York Mets.
Johan Camargo tripled home the tying run, then scored on Ender Inciarte's bunt single as the Atlanta Braves scored twice in the ninth inning off Mets closer Jeurys Familia to beat New York 4-3 Saturday night.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Peter Bourjos began the game on the bench for the Atlanta Braves. Didn't get in until the seventh inning. He made quite a contribution, nonetheless.
Bourjos threw out a runner at the plate shortly after taking over in left field, then drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the 12th. Atlanta's bullpen finally made a lead stand up, helping the Braves beat the Washington Nationals 5-3 Wednesday after starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy left with a hurting left shoulder.
ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta hitters enjoyed their most productive night in their new stadium, and that made things easier for Brandon McCarthy in his Braves debut.
Ender Inciarte drove in four runs with three hits, Ryan Flaherty had four hits and scored four times, and the Braves roughed up Vince Velasquez and the Philadelphia Phillies for a 15-2 win on Saturday night.
The Braves' runs and 19 hits were team records for SunTrust Park, which opened last season.
Braves crush Rockies 10-4 as Arenado avoids serious injury
DENVER (AP) — The Atlanta Braves didn't have long to process a bad loss to the Colorado Rockies. That was a good thing.
Ender Inciarte hit two of Atlanta's four homers and the Braves responded to the big loss by beating the Rockies 10-4 on Thursday.
Freddie Freeman and Tyler Flowers also homered, and Lucas Sims (1-3) got his first win in the majors for the Braves, who managed a four-game split at Coors Field thanks to four solo shots off Colorado starter Jeff Hoffman (6-5).
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have optioned struggling shortstop Dansby Swanson to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Swanson was expected to be the figurehead of a rebuilding team. He was the No. 1 overall pick by Arizona in 2015 and was regarded as one of the National League's top rookies. He has hit only .213 with six homers and 35 RBIs. He has only three hits in 25 at-bats since the All-Star break.
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Rookie Sean Newcomb is making believers of his Atlanta Braves teammates and manager.
"Nasty," Ender Inciarte said following the left-hander's latest gem.
Newcomb struck out eight over six innings for his first major league victory, lifting Atlanta over the San Diego Padres 3-0 on Tuesday night.
"Just a real impressive outing," Braves manager Brian Snitker.
Phillips wins it again as Braves top Marlins 5-4
ATLANTA (AP) — Brandon Phillips thought it was "epic" to get the Braves' game-winning hit for the second straight day.
Having his dad in the stands on Father's Day added to the thrill.
Phillips punched a ninth-inning single through a stacked infield to drive in Johan Camargo from third base and give Atlanta a 5-4 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday.
CINCINNATI (AP) — One day after a rough performance at the plate, Ender Inciarte got back on track — in a big way.
Inciarte tied his career high with five hits and drove in a career-high five runs, helping the Atlanta Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds 13-8 on Sunday.
ATLANTA (AP) — Matt Adams' first home run with the Braves came down near the right-field restaurant that had been the landing spot for a few of Freddie Freeman's long balls this season.
Adams was quick to say he's not staking any claim to Freeman's territory — in the stands or on the field.
The newcomer hit a two-run shot in his second start since being traded to Atlanta, Ender Inciarte had a career-high five hits and the Braves beat Gerrit Cole and the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 on Monday night.
ATLANTA (AP) — R.A. Dickey claims he hasn't had a consistently good knuckleball through any start this season.
The 42-year-old Dickey has still been good enough for two straight wins over Matt Harvey and the Mets.
Dickey's floaters were more effective than Matt Harvey's fastballs for the second time in a week, Ender Inciarte drove in three runs with three hits and the Atlanta Braves beat New York 9-7 on Tuesday night.
Harper hits 2 HRs, drives in 5, as Nats slam Braves 14-4
ATLANTA (AP) — Bryce Harper assumes everybody already knows the Washington Nationals will again be a team to watch in the National League.
Just in case, Harper and the Nationals made the point by putting on an offensive show at the Atlanta Braves' new park.
Harper had two homers, including a grand slam, among four hits and the Nationals overwhelmed Julio Teheran and the Braves 14-4 on Wednesday night. Harper drove in five runs. Ryan Zimmerman also hit a grand slam and the Nationals had 20 hits.
Braves beat Padres 5-2 on opening night at new stadium
ATLANTA (AP) — On a night of firsts, Ender Inciarte saved the best for last.
Matching his power total for all of last season, Inciarte hit the first homer in baseball's newest stadium to carry the Atlanta Braves to a 5-2 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday.
The center fielder also recorded the first out, had the first hit and scored the first run at SunTrust Park , ensuring he'll be the answer to a lot of trivia questions.
MIAMI (AP) — Ender Inciarte matched Giancarlo Stanton homer for homer until Tyler Flowers broke the tie, and the Atlanta Braves broke their five-game losing streak.
Inciarte hit two home runs and Flowers had a go-ahead single in the ninth inning Wednesday night to help Atlanta rally past the Miami Marlins 5-4.
