LOWELL -- Police and prosecutors have worked hard to teach seniors to protect themselves from a variety of scams that have targeted them in recent years, so scammers have begun to increasingly target immigrants instead, according to District Attorney Marian Ryan.

PATERSON - The Paterson Free Public Library is offering English as a Second Language classes at two of its branch locations.

Danbury area schools tackle big gap in minority student-staff ratio
Jessica Coraizaca moved to Danbury from Ecuador at age 12. At Rogers Park Middle School and in her first semester of high school, she was in the English as a second language (ESL) program and had teachers who came from diverse backgrounds and spoke her language.
“I felt more comfortable and wanted to learn, like they were a role model,” said Coraizaca, who is now 24.
