There are several glaring and troubling loopholes in Texas’ public records law.
The most troubling example comes courtesy of a 2015 Texas Supreme Court ruling that allows businesses contracting with public entities to keep those contracts and other key details secret. For years, such information was public record, the idea being the public should know how its money is being spent.
Enrique Iglesias has never introduced his girlfriend Anna Kournikova to his dad.
The 42-year-old singer has been dating the former tennis star since 2001, but because the blonde beauty and Enrique's chart-topping dad Julio are rarely in the same country at the same time, they have never come face to face.

AUSTIN — McAllen’s payment to Enrique Iglesias for a 2015 holiday performance may never become public information, and state Rep. Terry Canales is not happy about it.
Wednesday night, Sen. Charles Schwertner, R-Georgetown, removed House Bill 349, Canales’ bill, from the Texas Senate’s Local and Consent Calendar. This effectively killed the bill by preventing it from being read on the Senate floor before the end of the legislative session next Monday.
AUSTIN — Texas open government advocates entered the legislative session with hopes for passing six bills that addressed government transparency, including one that would have closed a legal loophole that allowed the city of McAllen to avoid disclosing how much it paid entertainer Enrique Iglesias for a holiday concert.
