Erik Jones claims pole for 1st NASCAR playoff race in Vegas
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Erik Jones surprised the field by winning the pole Friday for the opening race of the NASCAR Cup series playoffs, turning a lap in 28.705 seconds and narrowly edging Joey Logano.
Jones opened the first weekend of NASCAR's 10-race postseason by earning his second career pole in his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. The 22-year-old is the youngest driver ever to win the pole at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Keselowski makes it a Penske sweep at Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — First, Brad Keselowski figured out the secret to restarting at the Brickyard 400.
Then he safely and strategically bumped his way into the lead and sped to the finish line.
One year after settling for second in a chaotic, crash-marred race last year, Keselowski redeemed himself by earning his second straight major win and finally giving team owner Roger Penske the elusive Brickyard win.

Brad Keselowski has given Roger Penske his first win in the Brickyard 400.
Keselowski took the lead with a daring pass, bumping leader Denny Hamlin as they came around the 2.5-mile oval on the second-to-last lap. Keselowski finally made the pass coming down the front straightaway and pulled away to win by 0.904 seconds over Erik Jones. Hamlin was third 1.703 seconds behind.
Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch go 1-2 for Gibbs at Michigan
BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) — Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch swept the front row in qualifying at Michigan International Speedway. Kevin Harvick, neck-and-neck with Busch all season, was right behind in third.
Hamlin went 202.794 mph in Friday's session to win a pole for the second consecutive week. The JGR veteran is winless this season, while teammate Busch has six victories and Erik Jones has one.

LONG POND, Pa. (AP) — Kyle Busch stood on the window ledge of his truck, raised his arms in triumph and then slapped an appropriate number on the roof for a record-tying celebration.
Driving the No. 51 Toyota, Busch won his 51st career race in Trucks — matching the series record.
Busch held off Erik Jones down the stretch to win the NASCAR Trucks race Saturday at Pocono Raceway and tie the record for most career wins in the series.

Truex clocked 188.890 mph to earn his first Kentucky pole and 19th of his career on Friday. He led 152 of 274 laps on his way to winning this race last July.

Stenhouse triggered two wrecks Saturday night that collected more than half the field and knocked out former Cup series champions, Daytona 500 champs and a slew of perennial race contenders.
"It's been crazy partly due to a few of my issues," Stenhouse said over the radio on NBC.
