Michigan State lecture series includes presidential adviser
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Author, activist and longtime presidential adviser Vernon Jordan is among the scheduled speakers for Michigan State University's series during Black History Month.

African American art, artifacts focus of Boston auction
BOSTON (AP) — An auction in Boston is selling off a trove of African American works of art and historical artifacts.
"Please Remember" features items from the personal collection of Eugene and Avis Robinson. Skinner, the auction house coordinating the sale, says the collection represents a "monument to the totality of African American life" in America.

In an article printed in the Union-Tribune, Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson refers to the deaths in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Falcoln Heights, Minnesota, (“A profound sorrow,” July 9), as “appalling police work.” Cellphone videos alone don’t constitute thorough, all-inclusive investigations which can help reveal, as much as possible, the exact circumstances of an incident.
