The road is closed in both directions from Rawlins to Rock Springs and eastbound from Evanston to U.S. 189. The Wyoming Department of Transportation says those sections of highway are unlikely to reopen until Thursday night.
Other roads closed due to snow and blowing snow include Wyoming 28 from Lander to Farson, Wyoming 789 north of Baggs, U.S. 287 north of Rawlins and U.S. 30 from Bosler to Walcott Junction.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Federal authorities say a Mississippi man sought in the killing of his wife has been seen recently in southern Wyoming and northern Utah.
The U.S. Marshals Service says 61-year-old Charles Eugene Bowman was seen June 30 at a gas station in Evanston, Wyoming, and Friday while camping six miles west of Vernal, Utah.
The Marshals Service says Bowman was seen driving a white 2006 Nissan Maxima with a handicap Mississippi license plate, D2745.

Salt Lake Police Sgt. Brandon Shearer says 20 officers used rakes to search through garbage for evidence for up to 10 hours on Tuesday.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper is recovering after being injured in an accident during a car chase.
The patrol hasn't released the trooper's name but says he is in stable condition at a Utah hospital.
The patrol says the incident began about 10:10 p.m. Wednesday near Evanston when the trooper tried to stop a pickup truck that ran a stop sign. The ensuing chase exceeded speeds of 100 mph (160 kph).

Federal prosecutors say 21-year-old Dakota Shareef Walker, of Topeka, pleaded guilty Wednesday to robbing U.S. Banks in Topeka, Kansas; Kansas City, Missouri; Evanston, Wyoming; and Malad City, Idaho. He also pleaded guilty to robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in Preston, Idaho.
The robberies occurred between Nov. 28, 2016, and Jan. 9, 2017.

Utah-based Management & Training Corporation approached Uinta County and Evanston officials recently with its proposal to build a center to house about 600 detainees for the Salt Lake City office of the U.S. Department of Immigration and Custom Enforcement. The office serves Utah, Nevada, Idaho and Montana.
