INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Fernando Alonso will be powered by Chevrolet for his second attempt to win the Indianapolis 500.
Alonso is entering the race with McLaren, which had a 70 percent win rate from 1968 to 1970 when partnered with Chevrolet that included 23 consecutive victories. The IndyCar Series currently has only two engine providers, Chevrolet and Honda, but McLaren has a strained relationship with Honda.

McLaren signs British teenager Norris to replace Vandoorne
WOKING, England (AP) — British teenager Lando Norris will drive for Formula One team McLaren next year in place of Stoffel Vandoorne.
McLaren says it has signed the 18-year-old Norris to a "multi-year" deal.
Norris has been the team's reserve driver and has taken part in practice sessions in Belgium and Italy.
He says "although I've been part of the team for a while now, this is a special moment, one I could only hope would become reality."
Hulkenberg changing his mind about F1 halo after crash
MONZA, Italy (AP) — Nico Hulkenberg is saying hello to the halo.
Hulkenberg has often dismissed the protective device on F1 cars, which was introduced this season, with the Renault driver saying last year that it looked stupid and wasn't necessary.
However, the halo's benefit appeared plain to see at the Belgian Grand Prix last weekend when Fernando Alonso's McLaren spiraled into the air and bounced on top of Charles Leclerc's Sauber during a dramatic first-lap crash.

SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium (AP) — Fernando Alonso's McLaren car spiraled into the air and bounced — yes, bounced — on top of Charles Leclerc's Sauber during a dramatic first-lap crash at Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix.
Both Formula One drivers walked away unscathed, with the "halo" protective device surrounding Leclerc's cockpit appearing to save him from a serious head injury.

SILVERSTONE, England (AP) — Struggling Formula One outfit McLaren has accepted Eric Boullier's resignation as racing director and announced a restructure of its leadership.
Boullier, who joined the British team in 2014, had overseen its worst run across its 52-year history. McLaren has not won a race since 2012 and hasn't landed a podium position in more than four years.

LE MANS, France (AP) — Two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso won the 24 Hours Le Mans on his debut in the classic endurance race on Sunday to move closer to motorsport's unofficial Triple Crown.
The Spanish driver, together with teammates Kazuki Nakajima of Japan and Sebastien Buemi of Switzerland, completed 388 laps in their Toyota hybrid car, two more than Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez in the other Toyota hybrid.

Fearless Verstappen blames Vettel for reckless driving
SINGAPORE (AP) — After being on the receiving end of reckless driving at the Singapore Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was quick to blame Sebastian Vettel.
Verstappen was forced to retire from Sunday's race after the first lap, the seventh time in 14 races that the Red Bull driver has failed to finish.
This time it wasn't engine failure, like on several occasions this season, but Vettel causing a first-lap crash that was easily avoidable.
