FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — Ohio's state treasurer-elect has announced details of his swearing-in ceremony to be held later this month.
GOP state Rep. Robert Sprague, of Findlay, won the office in November by defeating Democrat Rob Richardson, a Cincinnati attorney.
Ohio Supreme Court Justice Sharon Kennedy will administer the oath of office to Sprague on Jan. 11 at the Hancock Hotel in Findlay in northwestern Ohio.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati police say two people have been shot in the city's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.
WCPO-TV says police called the Saturday night shooting near Findlay Playground a gun battle in which a woman was shot in the head. TV stations report that her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Justin Turner scored 22 points and Bowling Green, tied at halftime, outlasted Division-II Findlay 82-57 on Sunday.
Findlay led throughout the first 19 minutes of the first half before Bowling Green tied it at 35 heading into the break. Bowling Green opened the second half with a 27-7 run to take control.

FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — Lexa Kessler is making an 88-county dent in her bucket list.
The 24-year-old Hancock County woman knocked off a major task in early September with a trip to the Geauga County Fair. Over the past four summers, she has visited all 88 county fairs in Ohio, as well as the Ohio State Fair.
"I didn't think I'd ever get it done. I thought years from now I'd be like, 'Oh, I should have finished that', so I'm glad I did," she said.
Police: Man struck, killed by train
FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in northwest Ohio say a man has been struck and killed by a train.
WTOL-TV reports 46-year-old Wayne Bell was found dead Sunday morning on CSX railroad tracks in Findlay. Police say a southbound train tried to stop before it struck the Findlay man, who was lying partially on the tracks.
The two CSX employees on the train at the time of the collision weren't injured.

FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — A body found inside a car submerged in a pond at a community college in northwestern Ohio is believed to be a woman missing since last month.
The car was found Monday on the campus of Owens Community College in Findlay. The identity of the woman inside has not been confirmed, but police believe the car belonged to 70-year-old Charlene Robinson of Clyde. She has not been seen since April 3.

Man gets prison time for killing ex-fiancee’s young son
FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man convicted of killing his fiancee's 2-year-old son has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after serving at least 17 years.
Twenty-nine-year-old Brent Houdeshell was sentenced last week after his earlier conviction on charges of murder, child endangerment and evidence-tampering in Hancock County, south of Toledo.
The Arlington man maintains his innocence and plans to appeal.
Work on river to begin for flood control in northern Ohio
FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — One of the steps aimed at reducing repeated flooding in northwestern Ohio will begin later this year.
Crews will begin removing trees along the Blanchard River in February and then are expected to start removing soil this summer to widen the river.
The Courier in Findlay reports that project managers say that work on widening the river could be done by August 2019.

Ohio city cleaning up after damaging floods
FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — Residents in a northern Ohio city are cleaning up basements and belongings after dealing with another damaging flood.
The Courier (http://bit.ly/2tXBk1b ) reports the Blanchard River at Findlay crested at 16.5 feet (5.meters) Friday and has been receding since then. The river was at 11.4 feet (3.5 meters) early Sunday, just slightly above minor flood stage level.
It was the fifth-highest crest on record for the river at Findlay.
Flooding from river in Ohio to recede over weekend
FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — Flooding from a rain-swollen river that closed dozens of roads and swamped yards and basements in northwestern Ohio is expected to recede over the weekend.
The Blanchard River crested around 16.5 feet about midday Friday in Findlay. National Weather Service forecasters said the river levels would recede overnight in the city roughly 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Toledo and drop below flood stage by Sunday night. Flood stage in Findlay is 11 feet.
Northwest Ohio bracing for near-record flooding
FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — Flooding has closed dozens of roads in northwestern Ohio as residents in Findlay are piling up sandbags ahead of what could be near-record flooding.
The National Weather Service predicts the flood levels in Findlay to be among the highest in the city's history by Friday morning.
