The weekend storm dumped more than 14 inches (35 centimeters) of snow in Flagstaff, six to eight inches (15 to 20 centimeters) in Payson, four inches (10 centimeters) in Show Low and four to seven inches (10 to 17 centimeters) in Prescott.

Helicopters haul logs for Flagstaff forest thinning project
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Helicopter flights over Flagstaff are common, particularly with the local hospital being northern Arizona's only top-tier trauma center, but the cargo of some of the helicopters buzzing over Flagstaff these days consists of logs, not people.
The logs are the product of forest thinning intended to help reduce the severity of wildfires, and helicopters are being used partly for the work because the terrain is a barrier to ground transport of felled trees.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — A U.S. investigation at Grand Canyon National Park has ended with the exoneration of the park's superintendent and an announcement that she'll return to work soon.
Christine Lehnertz was reassigned in October while investigators from the Interior Department's Office of Inspector General looked into undisclosed allegations against her.

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate last weekend's shooting of 47-year-old Henry Harold Russell of Boise.
Authorities say Russell approached two police officers outside a guidance center with a knife in each hand Sunday morning.

Study looks at economic benefit of longer North Rim season
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — A new study says extending the tourist season at the Grand Canyon's North Rim by a month would boost the regional economy by $14 million.
The canyon's less popular North Rim is fully open less than half of the year, largely because of weather.
Tourism promoters in northern Arizona and southern Utah have been advocating for an extra two weeks in both October and May. The idea has gained traction recently.
