FLINT, Mich. (AP) — The former head of the FBI in Detroit has been removed from the Flint water criminal investigation.
Andy Arena was part of the team assembled in 2016 by then-Attorney General Bill Schuette. He's had a distinguished career in law enforcement, especially with the FBI in New York and Detroit.

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — AAA Michigan says average gas prices statewide are down about 1 cent from a week ago to about $2.15 per gallon.
The Dearborn-based auto club says Monday the average price for self-serve regular unleaded is about 52 cents less than a year ago. AAA says last month saw the cheapest average January gas prices in three years.
The state's highest average was about $2.24 a gallon in the Marquette area. The lowest average was about $2.10 in the Flint and Jackson areas.
Natural gas shortage ends, auto plants to resume production
DETROIT (AP) — Dozens of Michigan auto plants and large commercial buildings that were forced to close or cut operations Thursday due to a natural gas shortage can resume production at midnight.
Consumers Energy had asked the plants and other big gas users to curtail work for fear of running out of gas for homes and other critical buildings during a record-setting deep freeze.

FLINT, Mich. (AP) — Authorities have closed sections of two interstate highways in the Flint area following multiple crashes amid icy conditions.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is reporting a stretch of northbound Interstate 475 was closed Sunday morning. The Flint Journal reports drivers were being rerouted off the interstate and onto a local road south of Flint.

15 people have been charged in the Flint water scandal
DETROIT (AP) — Fifteen people have been charged in an investigation of how Flint's water became contaminated with lead in 2014-15 and a related outbreak of Legionnaires' disease. Seven people have pleaded no contest to misdemeanors in deals that will leave them without a criminal record.

3 years later, no one is in jail over Flint tainted water
DETROIT (AP) — Michigan's attorney general in 2016 promised to investigate "without fear or favor" the scandal over Flint's lead-tainted drinking water and pledged that state regulators would be locked up for fudging data and misleading the public.
Yet three years later, no one is behind bars. Instead, seven of 15 defendants have pleaded no contest to misdemeanors, some as minor as disrupting a public meeting. Their records eventually will be scrubbed clean.
Business expansions in Detroit suburb, Flint area get boost
TROY, Mich. (AP) — Business expansions including the establishment of a Chinese manufacturer's facility in suburban Detroit are getting support from the Michigan Strategic Fund.
The Michigan Economic Development Corp. on Wednesday announced that three planed business expansions and two community improvement projects are expected to generate $17.7 million in private investment and create more than 170 jobs.
Michigan AG puts supervisor over Flint water probe
DETROIT (AP) — Michigan's new attorney general has appointed a Detroit-area prosecutor to supervise criminal cases arising from the Flint water crisis.
Fadwa Hammoud was named Tuesday by Attorney General Dana Nessel. She also will serve as the attorney general's chief appellate lawyer.
The decision means special prosecutor Todd Flood will report to Hammoud. Nessel says the Flint water cases "have gone on for years" at a cost of millions of dollars. She says it's time for "resolution and justice."
