PHOENIX (AP) — Bryan Mitchell's strong return to San Diego's rotation and a big boost from Franmil Reyes' bat put Arizona in a deeper hole in the NL West.
Reyes homered twice and had four RBIs, Mitchell pitched five effective innings in his return from the DL and the Padres knocked off the playoff-contending Diamondbacks 6-2 Monday night.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Padres rookie right-hander Brett Kennedy wasn't dominating, just effective.
"He was missing barrels," San Diego manager Andy Green said. "There was a lot of soft contact."
Kennedy pitched six strong innings, and Franmil Reyes, Luis Urias and Wil Myers all homered to lead the Padres to a 7-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.
Franmil Reyes homers in 13th to lift Padres over Rockies 3-2
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Padres manager Andy Green told Franmil Reyes that he'd have the winning hit Thursday night.
Reyes sure did, and in a big way. The rookie hit his first career walkoff homer with two outs in the 13th inning to give the Padres a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies.
Reyes connected to left-center on a 1-1 pitch from Bryan Shaw (4-6) for his 12th homer. It was only the sixth hit for San Diego. The Rockies had only three hits against seven Padres pitchers.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — San Diego rookie Franmil Reyes is getting less of a kick at the plate these days. The Padres are OK with that.
Reyes homered for the second straight game and doubled in the go-ahead runs off All-Star Josh Hader as the Padres overcome an early deficit and beat the Milwaukee Brewers 11-5 Tuesday night.
Manuel Margot homered, tripled, singled and drove in five runs for San Diego. Reyes, called up Saturday after two earlier stints with the Padres, also added a single.
Padres’ Wil Myers on 10-day DL with bruised left foot
CHICAGO (AP) — The San Diego Padres placed left fielder Wil Myers on the 10-day disabled list with a left foot bone bruise before Saturday's game with the Chicago Cubs. The move is retroactive to Friday.
Outfielder Franmil Reyes was recalled from Triple-A El Paso to replace Myers on the roster. Reyes has played in 38 games for the Padres this season, batting .221 with six home runs and eight RBIs in 104 at-bats.
