Quisneberry carries Youngstown St. over Green Bay 96-77
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Darius Quisneberry matched his season high with 24 points as Youngstown State topped Green Bay 96-77 on Saturday night.
Garrett Covington had 18 points for Youngstown State (10-16, 6-7 Horizon League), which earned its fourth consecutive victory. Jelani Simmons added 10 points. Noe Anabir had 10 points for the home team.
Tank Hemphill had 14 points for the Phoenix (12-13, 6-6). Sandy Cohen III added 14 points. JayQuan McCloud had 11 points.
Youngstown State hits 3 at buzzer, beats Milwaukee 72-71
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Garrett Covington hit an open 3-pointer from the corner at the buzzer to give Youngstown State a 72-71 victory over Milwaukee on Thursday night.
Darius Roy made a pair of free throws to give Milwaukee a 70-66 lead with 12 seconds left. Darius Quisenberry converted a 3-point play to pull the Penguins to 70-69. Roy made the second of two free-throw attempts with six seconds left before Covington ended it.
Quisenberry leads Youngstown State over Oakland 75-74
ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) — Darius Quisenberry scored eight of his 23 points in the final two minutes, including a key pair of free throws, and Youngstown State beat Oakland 75-74 on Thursday night.
Quisenberry's layup with 1:49 left tied it at 66 and Garrett Covington's 3-pointer nine seconds later gave the Penguins (7-16, 3-7 Horizon League) the lead for good.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Freshman Darius Quisenberry had 22 points, four 3-pointers and eight assists and Youngstown State beat IUPUI 82-76 on Saturday.
Quisenberry scored 20-plus for the fourth time this season. He banked in a 3-pointer as the shot clock expired to give YSU a 74-61 lead with six minutes remaining and his 3 at 2:11 made it 79-67.
Youngstown St. routs Milwaukee, 76-51 for Horizon League win
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Garrett Covington scored 15 points and Youngstown State held Milwaukee to just 14 first-half points as the Penguins rolled to a 76-51 Horizon League rout on Saturday.
Youngstown State used 16 players in the road game with 11 contributing points.
Green Bay beats Youngstown State in overtime 99-93
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — JayQuan McCloud scored 24 points and Kameron Hankerson had 19, both career highs, and Green Bay beat Youngstown State 99-93 in overtime on Thursday night.
PJ Pipes added a career-high 16 points, making 8 of 8 at the line including the tying points in regulation and the Green Bay's final six in overtime. Shanquan Hemphill added 10 and Sandy Cohen III made all six of his free throws, four in overtime, in scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and two big blocks.
Davis scores 27, leads Detroit Mercy past Youngstown 78-66
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Antoine Davis scored 27 points and Detroit Mercy pulled away down the stretch to defeat Youngstown State 78-66 in the Horizon League opener on Friday afternoon.
Davis knocked down seven 3-pointers and four teammates scored in double figures as the Titans (4-9) broke away from a 60-60 tie with seven minutes to play.
Davis, a freshman and the third-leading scorer in the nation (26.0 ppg), had 16 in the first half as Detroit Mercy opened a 46-35 lead.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) — Darius Quisenberry scored 14 points and Youngstown State beat Binghamton 58-48 on Saturday.
Garrett Covington added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Penguins (4-8). Jelani Simmons had nine points and Naz Bohannon had eight points and led with 10 rebounds.
Covington drained a 3-pointer midway through the first half and the Penguins led the rest of the way, building to a 26-17 advantage at the break.
Flowers leads Western Michigan past Youngstown St. 88-77

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Donel Cathcart III had 18 points to lead five Youngstown State players in double figures as the Penguins beat Division III Westminster (Pa.) 104-66 on Wednesday night.
Garrett Covington added 14 points for the Penguins (3-4). Darius Quisneberry and Jelani Simmons scored 13 apiece and Kendale Hampton had 10.
Hampton scores 32; Youngstown State beats Columbia 94-83
NEW YORK (AP) — Kendale Hampton scored a career-high 32 points to lead Youngstown State to a 94-83 victory over Columbia on Friday night in the Johnny Bach Classic.
Hampton was 10 of 17 from the floor, made seven 3-pointers and all five of his free-throw attempts. Garrett Covington added 16 points for the Penguins (2-2). Antwan Maxwell Jr. had 12 points and Devin Morgan chipped in 10.
Mike Smith scored 31 points on 12-of-23 shooting to lead Columbia (0-2). Quinton Adlesh added 12 points.
Youngstown State beats D-III Heidelberg 106-83
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Garrett Covington scored 21 points, Olamide Pedersen had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Youngstown State beat Division III-member Heidelberg 106-83 on Monday night.
Devin Morgan's 3-pointer a little more than five minutes in put the Penguins up 17-7. But the Student Princes went on a 13-6 run and made it 23-20 when Alex Arellano buried a 3-pointer near the midway point of the first half.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Cameron Morse scored a season-high 28 points and Youngstown State held on to defeat IUPUI 84-80 on Saturday.
Garrett Covington added 14 points, Jaylen Benton 12 and Tyree Robinson 11 for the Penguins (7-20, 5-9 Horizon League), who won the first meeting 85-62.
T.J. Henderson led the Jaguars (8-17, 5-9) with a career-high 22 points. Ron Patterson added 17 and Aaron Brennan 16.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Braun Hartfield scored 21 points, Cameron Morse 19 and Garrett Covington 17 and Youngstown State rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to beat Green Bay 85-74 on Saturday night.
The Penguins (5-11, 3-0) have won three straight after snapping a nine-game losing streak and are 3-0 in the Horizon League for the first time and 3-0 in any conference start since 1997-98.

In a game where the teams traded scoring runs, Youngstown State (4-11, 2-0 Horizon League) had the last one, finishing the game 11-6 after Milwaukee had pulled to within five, 61-56 with 2:43 to go. Hatfield hit a 3-pointer, Garrett Covington a layup and the Penguins were 5 of 6 from the foul line.
Morse’s 3-pointer with 0.6 left gives Penguins 80-77 victory
CLEVELAND (AP) — Cameron Morse answered Bobby Word's 3-pointer with a long, contested one of his own with 0.6 seconds remaining, giving Youngstown State its first Division-I victory of the season, 80-77 over Cleveland State in a Horizon League opener on Monday.
Word tied the game for the Vikings with nine seconds left with his fifth trey but Morse made his third from the arc for the Penguins' first road win after six losses.
Isby’s career-high 26 leads Utah St. past Youngstown St.
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — DeAngelo Isby scored a career-high 26 points and Quinn Taylor scored 13 and grabbed 10 rebounds and Utah State pulled away from Youngstown State 91-74 on Wednesday night.
Isby set his previous career high with 24 points on Dec. 9 in a 77-67 loss at Utah. Against Youngstown State he finished 9-of-13 shooting from the field including 3 of 6 from behind the 3-point arc.
Youngstown State rallies past Westminster 91-83
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Guards Cameron Morse and Garrett Covington scored 18 points each and Youngstown State rallied in the second half to turn back Division III member Westminster (Pa.) 91-83 on Tuesday night.
Morse added six assists, three rebounds and three steals, while Covington hit 8 of 10 from the floor and grabbed five rebounds for the Penguins (2-2).

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Michael Akuchie scored 28 points and Youngstown State set school records for points scored and margin of victory in their 134-46 win over Division III member Franciscan University on Tuesday night.
Garrett Covington added 16 points, eight assists and seven steals, which tied the school record, as the Penguins (1-1) also had a school-record 37 steals.
