Wyoming football closes out non-conference schedule with game against Texas State
LARAMIE — For all their struggles during regulation — dropped passes, untimely penalties, a substantial time-of-possession deficit — the Wyoming Cowboys ended last week on a high.
On the first play of overtime, Wyoming scored on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Josh Allen to James Price. Then, shortly before Saturday became Sunday, Garrett Crall tipped the ball, and the win, into the hands of Cassh Maluia.
After game-winning tip, Garrett Crall to see added role on Wyoming’s defensive line
LARAMIE — According to the box score for Wyoming's game against Gardner-Webb, defensive end Garrett Crall had a 31-yard reception.
"One of my buddies from home … texted me and he was like, ‘Man, you must have run a fake punt or something,’" Crall said. "And I was like, no. I ain’t out there catching passes. It’d be cool if they decided to, though."
The catch was actually mistakenly attributed to Crall, number 88, instead of tight end Josh Harshman, number 33.
Wyoming defeats Hawaii 28-21 in overtime on Cassh Maluia’s interception
LARAMIE — Any hopes the Wyoming Cowboys had of developing offensive consistency Saturday night fell through the fingertips of their wide receivers and onto the Jonah Field turf.
Maybe fingertips are overrated.
Sophomore linebacker Cassh Maluia, whose right hand is clubbed because of a broken thumb, caught the pass Garrett Crall tipped into the brisk Wyoming air to secure a 28-21 win for the Cowboys in overtime against Hawaii.
Wyoming beat Hawaii in overtime 28-21 on INT
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Linebackers don't get their hands on the ball very often, and Wyoming linebacker Cassh Maluia had just one good hand when he saw the ball fluttering in the air.
Still, Maluia was able to intercept the tipped pass in overtime, giving Wyoming a 28-21 win over Hawaii Saturday night.
