DA seeks death penalty for 4 charged in employee deaths during attempted Pasquotank jailbreak
Prosecutors announced Wednesday that they will seek the death penalty against four inmates who are charged with the deaths of four prison employees back in October.
Mikel Brady, Jonathan Monk, Seth Frazier, and Wisezah Buchman were all in court Wednesday as the district attorney in Pasquotank County announced the move.

The quartet were killed in an attempted prison break on Oct. 12. Eight other prison employees and four inmates were also injured.
Fourth employee dies from injuries sustained in Pasquotank prison escape attempt
A fourth person died Thursday as a result of injuries sustained during an escape attempt at Pasquotank Correctional Institution earlier this month.
Geoffrey Howe, 31, a maintenance mechanic for the former Correction Enterprises sewing plant at the facility, died Thursday at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
How had been a Department of Public Safety employee for just over one year.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Jerry Higgins says in a news release that maintenance mechanic Geoffrey Howe died Thursday of injuries in the Oct. 12 incident at Pasquotank Correctional Institution.
Officer released from hospital after prison escape attempt
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — One of the correctional officers hurt during an escape attempt at prison in North Carolina has been released from the hospital.
Public Safety Department spokesman Jerry Higgins said in a news release that officer George Midgett was released from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia on Tuesday evening.
The Pasquotank Correctional Institution remained on lockdown Monday, four days after a botched inmate escape that resulted in the deaths of two employees.
Thursday afternoon, a fire was set in a Correction Enterprises sewing plant, but Pasquotank County Sheriff Randy Cartwright said there was no riot during the attempted escape and nobody was taken hostage.
