Say his name: Rookie WR Valdes-Scantling on rise for Packers
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Packers receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling turned to Twitter to give a tutorial about how to pronounce his first name.
Get it straight: It's "mar-QUEZ" and not "mar-KEZ."
"It happens all the time," Valdes-Scantling said this week about the mispronunciation. "So there is no 'k' in my name."
Keep making highlight-reel plays and announcers will catch on soon enough and get it right.
Packers put Allison on IR, continue to reshuffle secondary
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers have placed receiver Geronimo Allison on injured reserve and continued to reshuffle their secondary by releasing safety Jermaine Whitehead and signing cornerback Will Redmond from the practice squad.
Allison injured his groin in practice last week and might need surgery. He had 20 catches for 303 yards and two scores in five games, having also missed time with a hamstring injury.
Gronkowski, Michel inactive for Pats’ matchup with Packers
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Quarterbacks Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers will both be without key players in the Sunday night matchup between the Patriots and Packers.
Tight end Rob Gronkowski and running back Sony Michel are both inactive for New England. Gronkowski is sitting for the second time in three games, this time with an ankle and back issue. Michel is missing his second straight game with a knee injury.
Receiver Geronimo Allison is inactive for the Packers.
WR Geronimo Allison out for Packers against Patriots
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Packers receiver Geronimo Allison will miss Green Bay's game against the New England Patriots on Sunday night with multiple injuries.
The Packers downgraded Allison from doubtful on Saturday, when the team had a light practice. Allison did not travel to New England.
He was a key contributor in the passing game before missing two weeks with a hamstring injury. He had one catch for 14 yards in returning against the Rams last week, then hurt his groin this week in practice.
Receivers Cobb, Allison out again for Packers vs. 49ers
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers will be without receivers Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison against the San Francisco 49ers because of hamstring injuries.
It's the second straight week that the Packers will be without Cobb and Allison. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will have to rely again on rookies Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown behind top wideout Davante Adams.
Packers WRs Cobb, Allison questionable for game vs. 49ers
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers say starting receivers Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison are questionable for their game Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers.
Both wideouts have hamstring injuries. Cobb has missed the last two games while Allison has missed one. Cobb and Allison have been limited participants in practice this week.
Packers’ Randall Cobb ruled out against Lions
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers will be without at least one of their starting receivers Sunday at Detroit.
Randall Cobb has been ruled out, a hamstring injury sidelining him for the second consecutive week.
Davante Adams, who injured a calf at Wednesday's practice, will practice Saturday, coach Mike McCarthy said, and is listed as questionable. Also questionable is Geronimo Allison, who suffered a concussion during last week's victory over Buffalo and has not practiced this week.
Packers could be short-handed at receiver against Lions
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers were missing star quarterback Aaron Rodgers when they closed last season with a road loss to the Detroit Lions.
When the Packers return to Detroit on Sunday, Rodgers could be without his top three receivers.
Davante Adams injured a calf on Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday.
Randall Cobb injured a hamstring last week, didn't play on Sunday against Buffalo and hasn't practiced this week.
Packers TE Jimmy Graham having immediate impact on offense
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — In his first two games with the Green Bay Packers, Jimmy Graham's impact on the offense has been obvious — in two very different ways.
He caught just two passes for 8 yards in the season opener against Chicago, but the attention Graham drew allowed wide receivers Randall Cobb, Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison to have big days.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Aaron Rodgers' no-look touchdown pass is still the talk of Green Bay Packers training camp.
The defense was called for offsides to give Rodgers a free play during a two-minute drill in practice Thursday. The play was going left. Rodgers was looking left. But he threw the ball to his right.
Touchdown, Geronimo Allison.
The play looks even better on film to coach Mike McCarthy.
WR Jordy Nelson misses 2nd day of practice for Packers
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Jordy Nelson missed a second day of practice with a shoulder injury, leaving his availability in the Packers' already short-handed receiving group in doubt for Green Bay's season finale against Detroit.
Leading receiver Davante Adams, who was in the concussion protocol following a hit two weeks ago from Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis, also appears unlikely to face the Lions after missing practice Thursday.
Packers: Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis suspended two games for illegal hit on Davante Adams
GREEN BAY -- Davante Adams was none too pleased with Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis after being knocked out of Sunday’s game and into the NFL concussion protocol by Davis’ blindside, illegal hit.
The Green Bay Packers No. 1 receiver even took to Twitter to vent.
Turns out, the league wasn’t very happy with Davis, either.
Davis was suspended two games Monday by the NFL for his hit on Adams, which came after an Aaron Rodgers interception as Davis ostensibly was blocking for safety Colin Jones.
Packers stumble in Rodgers’ first game back from injury
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Aaron Rodgers couldn't save the Green Bay Packers — but he sure gave it a heck of a try.
For a moment it looked as if the two-time league MVP was about to spin his magic to lead the Packers back from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
Packers: Tom Oates gives Green Bay an overall grade of ‘B-’ in overtime win over Tampa Bay
Brett Hundley overthrew an open Geronimo Allison in the end zone and threw too far inside on a shot play to Jordy Nelson, resulting in an interception. Jamaal Williams ran hard and made some nice cuts en route to 113 yards rushing. Williams and Aaron Jones could form a great tandem. Jones has his burst back.
GREEN BAY — Aaron Rodgers meant no disrespect.
When someone asked the Green Bay Packers quarterback what he learned about second-year wide receiver Geronimo Allison during Sunday’s 27-24 overtime victory over the Cincinnati Bengals at Lambeau Field — a game in which Allison caught six passes for 122 yards, including a 72-yard catch-and-run to set up Mason Crosby’s game-winning 27-yard field goal — Rodgers’ reply wasn’t intended to be mean-spirited.
Packers: Tom Oates gives Green Bay overall grade of ‘B’ for OT victory over Cincinnati
By the end of the game, Aaron Rodgers had made everyone forget he threw a pick-six. Rodgers was sacked five times in first half alone. Kyle Murphy had a long day against rookie Carl Lawson. World, meet Geronimo Allison. Where is the run game? Davante Adams and Martellus Bennett had late third-down drops.

Banged-up Packers beat winless Bengals 27-24 in overtime
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Aaron Rodgers looked around the locker room before Green Bay's game against the Cincinnati Bengals and noticed all the Packers starters sidelined with injuries. Defensive lineman Mike Daniels, receiver Randall Cobb and left tackle David Bakhtiari, just to name a few.
"But we've had a rallying cry at the beginning of the season," Rodgers said. "No excuses."
And no way were the Packers going to lose Sunday after Rodgers figured out the Bengals defense.
Bengals stay winless, defense gets burned late by Packers
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Cincinnati Bengals came so close to breaking through for a win.
Instead they found a new way to lose. The offense wasn't entirely to blame.
A defense that had contained quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers' potent offense in the first half fell apart late in a 27-24 loss in overtime on Sunday.
"A disappointment is not finishing a football game now," coach Marvin Lewis said.
Rodgers burns Bengals deep in OT, Packers win 27-24
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Aaron Rodgers burned another defense deep with a free play. The Cincinnati Bengals found their offense and a new way to lose.
Mason Crosby kicked a 27-yard field goal with 6:26 left in overtime set up by Rodgers' 72-yard pass to Geronimo Allison, and the Green Bay Packers rallied to beat Cincinnati 27-24 on Sunday.
Crosby's kick completed the Packers' comeback from a 21-7 halftime deficit.
Packers: Wide receiver Geronimo Allison suspended for first game of the season
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Geronimo Allison will miss the team's season opener against Seattle after being suspended for one game by the NFL.
The league suspended the 6-foot-3 Allison without pay for violating its substance abuse policy, according to a statement from an NFL spokesman.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The NFL has suspended Green Bay Packers receiver Geronimo Allison without pay for the season opener on Sept. 10 against Seattle for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
The league said in a statement on Wednesday that Allison would be eligible for all preseason practices and games. He would be eligible to return from his Week 1 suspension on Sept. 11.
The Packers declined comment, citing confidentiality.
MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers receiver Geronimo Allison has reached a deal with prosecutors to settle a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.
Allison will pay $330.50 to settle the charge after it was amended Tuesday to an ordinance violation. WLUK-TV reports he also will be required to complete community service.
NFL draft preview: Packers’ roster loaded with talented receivers, tight ends
GREEN BAY — Aaron Rodgers had been back at work for, oh, about three hours last week, and already he was downright giddy.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback has been blessed with some pretty remarkable squadrons of skill-position players — 2011, anyone? — but as the team reconvened for the start of the offseason program last Tuesday, Rodgers set down his medicine ball during a workout inside the Don Hutson Center and allowed his mind to wander.
Packers’ Allison pleads not guilty to marijuana charge
MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers receiver Geronimo Allison has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.
Allison's attorney, Brian Maloney, entered the plea on his client's behalf Monday. WLUK-TV (http://bit.ly/2l1JwYo ) reports Allison was not in court and was not required to be there.
The charge against Allison stems from a traffic stop in September in Manitowoc County. The next hearing is set for April 25.
Jordy Nelson, other Green Bay WRs active against Falcons
ATLANTA (AP) — Jordy Nelson and Green Bay's other wide receivers whose status had been in doubt are active for Sunday's NFC championship game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Nelson missed last week's playoff win over Dallas while recovering from broken ribs. He returned to practice at midweek, but said he was far from fully recovered.
Packers receivers Davante Adams (ankle) and Geronimo Allison (hamstring) also are in uniform after missing practice time with injuries.
Packers add WR depth, sign Max McCaffrey from practice squad
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers have signed rookie receiver Max McCaffrey from the practice squad, adding depth at a position plagued by injuries ahead of Sunday's NFC championship game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Offensive lineman JC Tretter, who had knee surgery this week, was placed on season-ending injured reserve on Saturday to make room for McCaffrey.
Injured Packers Nelson, Adams could be game-time decisions
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers may not know the status of injured receivers Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison until just before the NFC championship game on Sunday.
Coach Mike McCarthy said on Friday that all three receivers would be "given every chance to play in the game."
The Packers didn't have on-field work on Friday, when all three players were listed as questionable on the injury report.
GREEN BAY — Just how bad are the injuries that could sideline Green Bay Packers wide receivers Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome?
According to coach Mike McCarthy, if a Super Bowl LI berth wasn’t on the line, all three of them might’ve already been ruled out.
Packers’ Davante Adams may be game-time decision on Sunday
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers' Davante Adams has missed a second day of practice with an ankle injury, and the receiver may not know until warmups before the NFC championship game on Sunday whether he'll be able to play against the Atlanta Falcons.
Adams hurt the ankle during the 34-31 win last week against the Dallas Cowboys. He said that he's feeling better, though he was unsure whether he will feel well enough by Saturday to take part in Green Bay's final practice of the week.
Packers’ Allison charged with misdemeanor drug possession
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers receiver Geronimo Allison has been charged with one count of misdemeanor marijuana possession after a traffic stop in September.
The charge against Allison was filed in Manitowoc County Circuit Court on Dec. 15. A hearing was scheduled for Jan. 23, according to online court records.
The case was first reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Tuesday.
Packers: Aaron Rodgers has found trust in Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams, Jared Cook, Geronimo Allison
GREEN BAY — Aaron Rodgers has saved his Green Bay Packers’ seasons with five-letter words a few times now.
In 2014, after a 1-2 start, he spoke directly to Packers fans — and, to a lesser extent, his teammates — on his weekly radio show and told everyone to R-E-L-A-X. He went on to win his second NFL MVP and quarterback his team to the NFC Championship Game, where only an epic meltdown kept the Packers from the second Super Bowl appearance of his tenure.
Packers: Geronimo Allison’s emergence doesn’t surprise teammates, coaches
GREEN BAY — Randall Cobb had a front-row seat for Geronimo Allison’s breakthrough performance. It was his ankle injury that opened the door for the undrafted rookie free agent’s biggest opportunity of the season, and he watched from the Green Bay Packers’ sideline as Allison showed what everyone working at 1265 Lombardi Ave. already knew.
Packers add WR Geronimo Allison, S Jermaine Whitehead
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers have signed receiver Geronimo Allison and safety Jermaine Whitehead from the practice squad.
Allison and Whitehead were promoted to the active roster on Monday. They replace receiver Jared Abbrederis (quad) and safety Chris Banjo (hamstring), who were placed on injured reserve.
No. 15 Nebraska has chance to get payback against Illinois
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska is in the middle of a stretch of playing four of five games against teams it lost to last year.
Call it the Big Red Redemption Tour.
"It feels like that to me," coach Mike Riley said.
The 15th-ranked Cornhuskers (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten), who last week avenged a loss to Northwestern, will host an Illinois team on Saturday that beat them 14-13 in Champaign last season.
Packers release veteran guard Josh Sitton
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers released three-time Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton on Saturday, making an unexpected change on their offensive line.
The 30-year-old Sitton had started 112 of 121 regular-season games since being drafted in the fourth round in 2008 out of Central Florida. He was one of the leaders on a front five that protects quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
