So long a staple of the moviegoing experience, the summer comedy has fallen on hard times. There are hardly any on this season's release schedule, and one of the more promising candidates — "Ibiza," starring the terrific Gillian Jacobs and the former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Vanessa Bayer — isn't playing in theaters but is streaming on Netflix.

TV picks for March 9-11: ‘American Idol,’ ‘Love,’ ‘Pope: The Most Powerful Man in History,’ ‘Deception’
Love, which debuted two years ago as an homage to Woody Allens funnier, scandal-free period, has shifted gears now that its two leads, co-creator Paul Rust and Gillian Jacobs, have settled into something resembling a relationship. Season 3 broadens the landscape, giving supporting characters more room to explore their own desperate stabs at romance. The lovesick include Iris Apatow, who happens to be the 15-year-old daughter of executive producer Judd Apatow.
A movie about people who take being funny very seriously, writer-director-actor Mike Birbiglia’s “Don’t Think Twice” deftly manages to be funny and serious in the right combination.
