Tom Wilson scored, Tyler Lewington and Madison Bowey each got their first career goals and the Capitals beat the short-handed Ottawa Senators 3-2.

Trudeau, Snyder mark work start on Detroit-Windsor bridge
DETROIT (AP) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder during an event celebrating the start of construction on a bridge between Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit.
The work began Friday in Windsor on the Gordie Howe International Bridge. The Canadian-financed span over the Detroit River is expected to open in 2024.

DETROIT (AP) — Officials now estimate that a new international bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, will open in late 2024.
Construction starts next week on the Gordie Howe International Bridge, named after the late hockey legend.
Officials said Friday that a 36-year contract for the project includes $2.9 billion ($3.8 billion Canadian) to design and build the bridge, as well as about $1.5 billion ($1.9 billion Canadian) to operate and maintain it during that time.

Tuch gets tiebreaker in 2nd, Golden Knights beat Flames 7-3
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Another game, another record for the Vegas Golden Knights.
Alex Tuch scored the tiebreaking goal in the second period and the Vegas Golden Knights pulled away for a 7-3 victory over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night.
The win moved the Golden Knights back atop the NHL standings with 84 points — a record for an expansion team in its inaugural season — one point ahead of Eastern Conference-leading Tampa Bay.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Ryan Reaves can be quick to drop his gloves and start a timely fight to spark his team. With his gloves on, Reaves instead found another way to lift Pittsburgh with an opportune goal.
Reaves had a rare goal and an assist, and the Penguins scored four times in the second period to beat the scuffling Philadelphia Flyers 5-1 on Tuesday night.
Tarasenko nets 2, gets in rare fight as Blues top Oilers 8-3
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Vladimir Tarasenko had two goals and two assists and got in a rare fight Tuesday night, helping the St. Louis Blues to an 8-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
Brayden Schenn also had two goals and two assists, and Jake Allen stopped 26 shots for the NHL-leading Blues (16-5-1).
Tarasenko's fight came in the second period. In just the third scrap of his six-year career, Tarasenko tangled with Matt Benning and landed a solid right hand much to the crowd's delight.
Detroit — If this was a glimpse into what the future could look like, it has to excite Red Wings fans.
On a night the Red Wings dominated the Calgary Flames, 8-2, it was the some of the Red Wings' young hopes for the future leading the way on Wednesday.
Anthony Mantha had two power-play goals, an assist and a fight — a Gordie Howe hat trick — while Andreas Athanasiou had two goals and an assist and Dylan Larkin a goal and two assists, sparking the Red Wings to the rout.

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Jaromir Jagr has signed with the Calgary Flames.
The 45-year-old Jagr agreed to a one-year, $1 million deal Wednesday for his 24th NHL season — and first with a Canadian team.
"I already said in a Czech newspaper it's 99.9 percent that his will be my last season, so I want to get the experience to one day say I played for a Canadian team," Jagr said.
The five-time NHL scoring champion is second behind Wayne Gretzky in NHL history with 1,914 points (765 goals, 1,149 assists).

TORONTO (AP) — Gordie Howe is watching over the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame unveiled a nearly 8-foot statue of the late Detroit Red Wings star Friday. Howe's sons, Mark and Marty, participated in the ceremony.
"When I was young I'd see all these kids come up to Gordie Howe and he looked like this mountain of a man," said Mark Howe, a Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. "Now people from of all walks of life are going to come here and see he was truly a mountain of a man.
Comerica to invest $3M in Detroit, reshape presence in city
DETROIT (AP) — Comerica Bank plans to reshape its presence in and around downtown Detroit as part of a $3 million investment in the area.
The bank says Monday it's opening new locations, relocating offices and selling some offices to make way for new developments.
Comerica is working with Henry Ford Health System on the development of a new cancer center, for example, and Comerica's location there is being sold to Henry Ford.

TORONTO (AP) — Bill Dineen, the hockey icon who played with and later coached Gordie Howe, has died. He was 84.
The American Hockey League confirmed in a statement that Dineen died Saturday at his home in Lake George, New York.
Bids requested for new bridge linking Detroit, Windsor
DETROIT (AP) — The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority has issued a formal request for proposals to three teams of finalists vying to build the massive Gordie Howe International Bridge linking the two cities.
The three teams now have several months to submit their bids. Each team consists of multiple international companies with expertise in architecture, engineering, construction, finance, law and bridge operations.
Mark Howe, Pat Kelly are Lester Patrick Trophy winners
NEW YORK (AP) — Hall of Fame defenseman Mark Howe and East Coast Hockey League co-founder Pat Kelly are this year's Lester Patrick Trophy winners for outstanding service to hockey in the United States.
Howe played 22 professional seasons split between the NHL and the World Hockey Association, and is the son of NHL great Gordie Howe, who died in June. Born in Detroit, he was inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.
