Rossi replaces Rahal for Team Penske endurance races
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Alexander Rossi has replaced fellow IndyCar driver Graham Rahal at Acura Team Penske for the IMSA sports car endurance events.
Rossi will share the No. 7 Acura ARX-05 DPi with fulltime Penske drivers Helio Castroneves and Ricky Taylor in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring.
Rossi wins pole for Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio
LEXINGTON, Ohio (AP) — Alexander Rossi won his third pole of the season Saturday, leading qualifying for the Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Rossi, the 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner, denied Will Power his third pole at the Lexington, Ohio, course. His NAPA Auto Parts Honda had a one-lap speed of 125.677 mph over the 13-turn, 2.258-mile permanent road course.
"This is special," Rossi said. "Road courses are not the strongest attribute for me."
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (AP) — Fifth Third Bank will be the primary sponsor for Graham Rahal at the Honda Indy 200 later this month at Mid-Ohio.

CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) — Courtney Force won the NHRA Arizona Nationals on Sunday after her 68-year-old racing great father escaped serious injury in a frightening engine explosion and crash.
Courtney Force beat Tommy Johnson Jr. in the final round with a 3.834-second run at 337.16 mph. She won for the 10th time in Funny Car and first since Houston in 2016.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing announced Thursday that Gehl will sponsor Rahal in the IndyCar race on July 9.
Gehl was the co-primary sponsor of Rahal's entry at last weekend's Kohler Grand Prix at Road America for the second consecutive year and subsequently decided to increase their role with Rahal and his team.

DETROIT (AP) — Indianapolis 500 winner Takuma Sato set a track record to claim the pole for Sunday's second race of the IndyCar doubleheader at the Detroit Grand Prix.
Sato covered the 2.36-mile road course on Belle Isle in 1 minute, 13.6732 seconds at 115.434 mph in his Andretti Autosport Honda. Ryan Hunter-Reay, who was the fastest driver in the slower first qualifying session with a time of 1:15.2833, will start on the outside of the front row.
DETROIT (AP) — Graham Rahal had such a comfortable cushion while cruising toward victory at the Detroit Grand Prix he toyed with his push-to-pass system.
"I pressed it a couple times just for kicks," he said with a grin.
