House puts brakes on raising highway speed limits
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's House has killed a bill to increase speed limits on multilane highways and interstates in the state.
Representatives on Wednesday voted 46-46, which means the measure was rejected.
Grand Forks Republican Jake Blum sponsored the bill that would raise speed limits on multilane highways from 70 mph to 75 mph and on interstates from 75 mph to 80 mph.
Police ID man killed in skid steer accident in Grand Forks
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Police have identified the person who died in a snow-removal accident in Grand Forks over the weekend.
Authorities say 61-year-old Robert Coons slipped off the front of a skid steer loader and fell under the wheels of the vehicle Saturday.
First responders attempted to revive Coons, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he was part of a snow removal crew. Foul play is not suspected.
Interstates reopen in North Dakota
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Department of Transportation has reopened sections of the interstates and highways that were previously closed due to blizzard conditions.
Interstate 29 from Grand Forks to the southern South Dakota border as well as I-94 from Jamestown to Fargo reopened Friday morning. Also state Highway 13 is now passable between I-29 and Wahpeton.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — An elderly driver won't face charges in a fatal forklift crash in Grand Forks County.
State's Attorney Haley Wamstad has declined to file charges against 80-year-old Marilyn Pederson, of Northwood. She crashed into a forklift on Highway 15 near Thompson last June killing 61-year-old Juan Contreras of Grand Forks.
Pederson and her 75-year-old passenger were not hurt.

KVLY-TV reports a local narcotics task force served a search warrant at a residence Tuesday and seized more than 3 pounds of methamphetamine, an unspecified amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, four guns and nearly $9,000 in cash.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Tristan Simpson and Brandon Armstrong scored 13 points apiece and South Dakota led from start to finish in a 70-56 victory over North Dakota on Wednesday night.
Armstrong came off the bench, made two free throws and missed his only shot in the first half. He scored 11 points after halftime, including 7-of-10 free throws for 9-of-12 from the line for the game.
Suspected meth traffickers arrested in Grand Forks
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — An investigation by the Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force has resulted in the arrest of a couple suspected of distributing methamphetamine and possessing marijuana.
Authorities say the 40-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were taken into custody Tuesday after a search warrant was executed at their home in Grand Forks. Officials say 3.2 pounds of methamphetamine, an unspecified amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, four firearms and $9,000 in cash were seized.
Carbon monoxide poisoning likely caused Grand Forks death

Authorities said Tuesday 36-year-old Bradley Beiswenger had no permanent address and was found dead in the enclosed cargo area of his truck last Friday in Grand Forks.
