PITTSBURGH (AP) — Nick Sherod scored 28 points including a jumper in overtime that gave his team the lead for good and Richmond extended its win streak to four in a 77-73 victory over Duquesne Wednesday night.
The teams were tied with 32 seconds left when Sherrod hit a jumper to make it 75-73. De'Monte Buckingham stole the ball on the exchange and was fouled by Duquesne's Tarin Smith, sending him to the line where he made both free throws to clinch the win.
Sherod, Gilyard late 3s lift Richmond over La Salle 81-74
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Nick Sherod and Jacob Gilyard connected on consecutive 3-pointers as Richmond broke away from a tied game in the last 1:11 to defeat La Salle 82-74 Saturday, pushing its win streak to three games.
La Salle (8-12, 2-5 Atlantic 10) forged a 74-74 tie on a Tony Washington layup, but on the other end of the floor Sherrod nailed an open 3 from in front of the Richmond bench for the lead. The Spiders' Grant Golden blocked La Salle's Pookie Powell on the other end.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Freshman guard Jacob Gilyard said Richmond learned about itself in a most unlikely setting — on the home floor of arch rival VCU.
Grant Golden scored 17 points and Richmond never trailed Wednesday night in a 67-52 victory against the Rams.
"We just know if we focus in and lock in from the jump, we can play with anybody," Gilyard said.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Nick Sherod had a career-high 22 points to go with a career-high-tying nine rebounds and Richmond beat Davidson 69-58 in an Atlantic 10 opener on Saturday.
Sherod finished 4 of 6 from 3-point range, including one that gave the Spiders (3-10) a 59-53 lead with 2:52 left. From there, Richmond made 10 straight free throws to hold on for the win.
Thomas sparks Bucknell to 86-78 victory over Richmond

Golden’s 25 leads Richmond to first win, 63-50 over UAB
GEORGETOWN, Cayman Islands (AP) — Grant Golden scored a career-high 26 points with seven rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal and Richmond defeat UAB 63-50 at the Cayman Islands Classic on Monday night.
De'Monte Buckingham added 12 points and Nick Sherod 11 for the Spiders (1-2). Zack Bryant led the Blazers (3-1) with 16.
Richmond scored the first seven points of the game and added another seven-point run to lead 22-10 midway through the first half. It was 36-20 at the break.
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Grant Golden had no idea what was happening when he collapsed.
"I just got extremely dizzy and then I ended up blacking out at half court," the Richmond forward said, recounting a frightening few moments last December during a game against Texas Tech.
Teammate T.J. Cline yelled at him to get up, thinking Golden had slipped on a wet spot. On the bench, trainer Adam Smith remembers joking about Golden's clumsiness.
