Company expands operations in South Carolina, adding 30 jobs

Gov. Henry McMaster's office said in a news release Tuesday that Ascend Performance Materials plans to add 30 jobs at its operations in Greenwood. Ascend is spending $35 million in next year's the expansion.

5 hurt in apartment explosion in South Carolina
GREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say five people have been injured after an apartment exploded in South Carolina.
The Greenwood Fire Department said three adults and two children were hurt in the blast just after 2 a.m. Sunday. Authorities say one man was taken by helicopter to a burn center in Augusta, Georgia.
Investigators say the explosion destroyed two apartments and damaged a third unit.
