Wild send d-man Olofsson to Canadiens for prospect Bitten
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Wild have traded defenseman Gustav Olofsson to the Montreal Canadiens for minor league forward Will Bitten.

When Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leipold changed general managers this spring, he was adamant about the strength of a roster he believed only needed some tweaking and not a total overhaul.

MONTREAL (AP) — A high-intensity hockey game between the Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens took a dangerous turn in the third period, when Andrew Shaw left with an injury.
Montreal defeated Dallas 4-2 on Tuesday night but the game went sour when Shaw hobbled off the ice after a helmet-to-helmet collision with former teammate Greg Pateryn.
Seguin snaps scoreless tie in 3rd, Stars beat Kings 2-0
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dallas coach Ken Hitchcock could see the improved play in his Stars, but positive results had been elusive.
The Stars had lost consecutive games, been shut out in two of their last four and late Thursday night against the Kings were stuck in a scoreless game.
But then Tyler Seguin finally broke through with a goal with 8:27 remaining and Dallas beat Los Angeles 2-0 in a matchup of teams fighting for a Western Conference playoff spot.

DENVER (AP) — Tyler Seguin got the Dallas Stars going, and plenty of his teammates joined in.
Seguin scored two early goals and the Stars beat the Colorado Avalanche 7-2 on Sunday night for their fifth consecutive victory.
Stars acquire Greg Pateryn from Canadiens for Jordie Benn
DALLAS (AP) — The Montreal Canadiens acquired Jordie Benn from the Dallas Stars for Greg Pateryn and a fourth-round pick in the 2017 draft in an exchange of defensemen Monday.
The move, made two days before the NHL trade deadline, came a month after the Canadiens picked up Nikita Nestorov from the Tampa Bay Lightning for a sixth-round pick.
Plekanec’s first goal of season lifts Canadiens over Flyers
MONTREAL (AP) — The Montreal Canadiens knew just how important it was to rebound from one of their worst performances in decades.
Montreal beat the visiting Philadelphia Flyers 5-4 on Saturday, less than 24 hours after a 10-0 drubbing at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets — the first time the Canadiens conceded 10 goals since Dec. 2, 1995.
