The reserve point guard scored all of his 19 points in the second half to help the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the San Antonio Spurs 122-112 on Saturday night.
Schroder entered the night shooting just 32 percent from the field in 2019 and averaging just 10.4 points, dropping his overall average to just over 15 per game. He went 0 for 4 from the field in the first half before going 8 for 13 after the break.
Gasol leads Grizzlies past Spurs 96-86 ending Memphis skid
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Grizzlies center Marc Gasol snapped out of a recent slump with a more energized performance to help Memphis end a six-game slide.
Gasol had 26 points and 14 rebounds, and Memphis led from the second quarter on in a 96-86 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

DETROIT (AP) — San Antonio was already down eight points when the Spurs took a timeout around the midway point of the first quarter.
Then, after a turnover led to a Detroit dunk, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich called another timeout, just 14 seconds after the first.

USA Basketball picks roster for World Cup qualifiers
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — USA Basketball has picked the 12 players who will compete in the next two-game round of qualifying for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
Most of the picks are coming from the G League — Joel Berry II, Reggie Hearn, Scotty Hopson, John Jenkins, DeAndre Liggins, Chasson Randle, Cameron Reynolds, Richard Solomon and Travis Trice. NBA free agents Eric Moreland, Jarnell Stokes and Tyler Zeller were also chosen for the roster.
Whiteside dominates, Heat top Spurs 95-88
MIAMI (AP) — Hassan Whiteside wants a recount.
Even if that doesn't happen, he finally knows what it's like to beat San Antonio.
Whiteside had 29 points, 20 rebounds and an NBA season-high nine blocked shots — he thinks it was 10, and some of his teammates and coaches feel the same way. That was all the Miami Heat had to fret about Wednesday night, after they snapped a four-year drought against San Antonio by beating the Spurs 95-88.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Victor Oladipo and the Indiana Pacers nearly made Spurs coach Gregg Popovich ill.
Oladipo had 21 points, Indiana had 34 assists and the Pacers led for all but the opening seconds in a 116-96 victory over San Antonio on Wednesday night.
Popovich joked before the game that San Antonio's defense might land him in the emergency room. Oladipo and the sharp-shooting Pacers had no trouble finding space to fire away.
Spurs’ White out 6-8 weeks as injuries plague backcourt
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — San Antonio point guard Derrick White will miss six-to-eight weeks after injuring his left heel in his first game as a starter since replacing Dejounte Murray, who was lost for the season with a torn ACL.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich announced during Friday's shootaround that the second-year guard will be out for up to two months. White was already ruled out of the preseason finale on Friday with the Orlando Magic.
Kerr, Wright, McMillan to be US basketball assistant coaches
Steve Kerr and Jay Wright will be assistant coaches for the U.S. national basketball team, putting the coaches of the NBA and NCAA championship teams on Gregg Popovich's staff.
Nate McMillan will be the other assistant, USA Basketball announced Thursday.
The trio of coaches will work with Popovich in the 2019 Basketball World Cup and 2020 Olympics, assuming the Americans qualify for both events.

The 6-foot-7 Pondexter spent last season with the Chicago Bulls, averaging 2.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in 8.5 minutes in 23 games. The seven-year NBA veteran out of Washington has averaged 5.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 17.3 minutes over 302 total games with Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Memphis and Chicago.
Bob Bass, former GM in San Antonio and Charlotte, dead at 89
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Bob Bass, the former San Antonio and Charlotte general manager who was an integral part of the front office for most of the Spurs' first 20 years in South Texas, has died. He was 89.
Bass' death was confirmed by the club Saturday in a statement from coach Gregg Popovich. The San Antonio Express-News reported that Bass died Friday at home in San Antonio after a series of strokes.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — USA Basketball has picked its lineup of coaches to assist Gregg Popovich at the men's national team minicamp in Las Vegas this month.
Of the nine picks, seven are NBA assistant coaches: Golden State's Mike Brown, Miami's Dan Craig, Utah's Alex Jensen, Boston's Jay Larranaga, Dallas' Jamahl Mosley, San Antonio's Ime Udoka and Portland's David Vanterpool.
