The top-seeded Isner beat No. 7 seed Jordan Thompson of Australia, 6-4, 6-1 on Friday night. He will play fellow American Reilly Opelka, a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
Tiafoe upset in first match since Australian Open run
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Frances Tiafoe lost his first match since the Australian Open quarterfinals, falling to Jason Jung of Taiwan 6-3, 7-5 on Thursday night in the second round of the New York Open.
Tiafoe was the No. 2 seed after accepting a wild card into the field and had a first-round bye. The American has a career-high ranking of No. 29 after his run in Melbourne, where he lost to Rafael Nadal.

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Albert Montanes defeated Spanish countryman Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4, 6-4 in the Barcelona Open on Monday to begin his final ATP tournament.
The 36-year-old Montanes announced last week he will retire after nearly 20 years on tour when he's knocked out of Barcelona, where he lives. He beat Goran Ivanisevic on debut, and his best result was the semifinals in 2004. He won six ATP titles and was ranked a career-best 22 in 2010.
Milos Raonic waits out rain, reaches Delray Beach quarters
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Top-seeded Milos Raonic of Canada beat Borna Coric of Croatia 6-3, 7-6 (2) early Thursday in a rain-delayed match to reach the Delray Beach Open quarterfinals.
Raonic took 1 hour, 34 minutes to finish off Coric in the match that started at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday.
The Canadian will face eighth-seeded Kyle Edmund of England, a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 winner over Taiwan's Lu Yen-hsun. Raonic won the last of his eight ATP Tour titles last year in Brisbane, Australia.

ANTWERP, Belgium (AP) — Qualifier Marius Copil had nine aces as he upset sixth-seeded Joao Sousa of Portugal 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round of the European Open on Tuesday.
The 198-ranked Romanian also beat the 33rd-ranked Sousa on indoor hard courts in Stockholm, Sweden two years ago.
