Ward makes 30 saves as Blackhawks beat Predators 2-1
CHICAGO (AP) — Cam Ward gave the Chicago Blackhawks exactly what they needed in the wake of another concussion for Corey Crawford.
He went back to work.
Ward made 30 saves Tuesday night, leading the Blackhawks to a 2-1 victory over the Nashville Predators.
"I thought our guys competed, worked hard all 60 minutes," Ward said. "Defensively, we didn't give them a whole lot. It's a credit to the guys for the way that they played. We kept it much more simple and executed."
G Corey Crawford skates before Chicago’s first practice
CHICAGO (AP) — Corey Crawford is skating again. The Stanley Cup-winning goaltender hasn't been cleared for practice just yet, but he thinks he is close.
Now about those defensemen for the Chicago Blackhawks.
While Crawford delivered a positive update Friday on his recovery from a concussion that sidelined him for most of last season, defensemen Connor Murphy, Brent Seabrook and Gustav Forsling missed the start of training camp due to injuries.
CHICAGO (AP) — Blackhawks defenseman Gustav Forsling will miss the start of the season because of a right wrist injury.
The 22-year-old Swede had surgery on Tuesday. Team physician Dr. Michael Terry says the expected recovery time is 14 weeks.
Chicago acquired Forsling in a 2015 trade with Vancouver for Adam Clendening. Forsling, a fifth-round pick by the Canucks in 2014, had three goals and 10 assists in 41 games last season.
Blackhawks activate C Anisimov from IR
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks have activated center Artem Anisimov from injured reserve.
Anisimov missed 10 straight games with an upper-body injury. The 29-year-old Anisimov has 13 goals, including six game-winners, and five assists in 36 games this season.
Last-place Chicago hosts Tampa Bay on Monday night.
Forsling’s goal late in OT lifts Blackhawks over Sabres, 3-2
CHICAGO (AP) — Gustav Forsling certainly had an eventful night, and the 21-year-old Blackhawks defenseman capped it by giving Chicago a much-needed win.
Forsling scored on a screened shot from the blue line with 4.9 seconds left in overtime, and the Blackhawks rallied past the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 on Friday to snap a five-game losing streak.

Forsling, who had two assists in regulation, fired a low drive between Robin Lehner's pads with Buffalo defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen blocking the goalie's view.
Saad scores in OT to give Blackhawks 4-3 win over Hurricanes
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Brandon Saad missed an early opportunity for the Chicago Blackhawks, but he rose to the occasion when it really counted.
Saad scored at 1:44 of overtime to give Chicago a 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. His penalty-shot attempt was stopped by Scott Darling less than two minutes into the game.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Brandon Saad scored at 1:44 of overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night.
Alex DeBrincat had two goals and Gustav Forsling also scored for Chicago, which rallied after falling behind 3-1. Anton Forsberg stopped 35 shots.
Brock McGinn scored twice and Jeff Skinner also had a goal for Carolina. Scott Darling, who spent the previous three seasons with the Blackhawks, finished with 26 saves against his former team.
Van Riemsdyk scores late, Blackhawks beat Stars 5-3
DALLAS (AP) — In a period that included goals from stars Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, a rare one from Trevor van Riemsdyk proved to be the difference.
Van Riemsdyk put in a rebound for his second goal of the season with 4:03 left, lifting Chicago over the Dallas Stars 5-3 on Saturday night. Goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped a close-range shot by Artem Anisimov, but van Riemsdyk followed to put the puck under Lehtonen and make it 4-3.
Blackhawks place defenseman Michal Rozsival on IR
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks have placed defenseman Michal Rozsival on injured reserve and recalled defenseman Gustav Forsling from the minors.
The Blackhawks did not announce any specific details regarding the injury for the 38-year-old Rozsival, who got hurt during practice on Wednesday.
Forsling has one goal and three assists in 32 games with Chicago this season. He had a goal and four assists in 11 games with Rockford of the American Hockey League.
