FGCU gets first victory for new head coach, 81-54
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Schadrac Casimir scored 16 points to lead Florida Gulf Coast to an 81-54 victory over Southeastern Thursday night and the first win for Michael Fly as head coach of the Eagles.
Casimir, a graduate transfer from Iona where he played on three NCAA Tournament teams, made 5 of 10 shots, including two 3-pointers.
Guard Haanif Cheatham leaves Marquette for personal reasons
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Marquette says junior guard Haanif Cheatham has left the team for personal reasons.
Cheatham was the most experienced player on the Golden Eagles' young roster, starting 63 of 70 career games. Cheatham was averaging 8.2 points and 2.8 rebounds while starting each of the team's five games this year.
Coach Steve Wojciechowski announced the departure on Monday. He wished Cheatham luck as he looks to continue his college career elsewhere.
Rowsey scores 23, Marquette beats Mount Saint Mary’s 80-59
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Andrew Rowsey scored 23 points and Matt Heldt had 11 of his 13 points in the first half to help Marquette pull away early for an 80-59 win over Mount Saint Mary's on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Haanif Cheatham also had 13 points and Markus Howard scored 11 for Marquette. Rowsey hit three 3-pointers and added five assists and three steals.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Markus Howard tied the Marquette single-game record with nine 3-pointers and had a career-high 34 points , Andrew Rowsey scored 18 with a career-high tying seven assists and the Golden Eagles beat Xavier 83-61 on Saturday night to snap a two-game skid.
Providence wins 1st ever game at Marquette 79-78
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Kyron Cartwright scored all 18 of his points in the second half and Providence won its first ever game at Marquette, 79-78, on Saturday.
Marquette entered having won 14 of the 17 all-time meetings with Providence, which joined the Big East Conference in the 2005-06 season.
Marquette holds on for 89-86 win over Seton Hall
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Markus Howard had 22 points and Katin Reinhardt made four free throws in the final 29 seconds of overtime to help Marquette beat Seton Hall 89-86 on Wednesday night.
The Golden Eagles (11-5, 2-2 Big East) took the lead for good at 79-78 on Howard's pair of free throws with 3:57 left in overtime. The Pirates (12-4, 2-2) hung close and could have forced another overtime on Myles Powell's 3-point attempt that missed long at the buzzer.
Cheatham’s 19 paces Marquette past SIU-Edwardsville 89-56
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Haanif Cheatham scored 19 points on 8 of 10 shooting and led five players in double figures as Marquette defeated SIU-Edwardsville 89-56 on Wednesday night in the first meeting between the schools.
Luke Fischer added 15 points, Jajuan Johnson 14, while Sam Hauser and Duane Wilson scored 11 each for the Golden Eagles, who shot 53 percent from the floor, making 32 of 60 field goals. Marquette forced 22 turnovers and had 17 assists, Johnson leading with five.
Rowsey’s 22 points spark Marquette by St. Francis 78-65
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Andrew Rowsey hit six 3-pointers and scored 22 points, Jaquan Johnson had a double-double, and Marquette pulled away from St. Francis 78-65 on Monday night, exactly 60 years since their last meeting in 1956.
Haanif Cheatham contributed 18 points for the Golden Eagles (8-3). Johnson, Sam Hauser and Luke Fischer had 11 points apiece with Johnson grabbing 11 rebounds and delivering six assists, both career-highs.
Fischer leads Marquette to 101-79 win over Houston Baptist
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Luke Fischer took control early and finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds as he led Marquette to a dominating 101-79 win over Houston Baptist on Saturday night.
Fischer needed just 11 minutes to score 17 points and grab eight rebounds in the first period as Marquette jumped out to a 56-33 halftime advantage. Fischer finished the game making 9 of 10 from the floor and picked up five offensive rebounds.
Cheatham scores 20, Marquette beats IUPUI 104-79
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Haanif Cheatham scored 20 points and Marquette shot 60 percent from the floor in the first half to beat IUPUI 104-79 Tuesday night to close out the 2K Classic.
The Golden Eagles last topped 100 points in its 101-93 win at St. John's on March 9.
Katin Reinhardt scored 16 and made a career-high eight free throws. Marquette rolled to a 57-37 halftime advantage, making 16 of 17 free throws (94 percent) in the first half.
Marquette overtakes Howard early in 81-49 win
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Katin Reinhardt and Jajuan Johnson scored 14 points apiece to lead Marquette in an 81-49 win over Howard on Monday night.
Haanif Cheatham and Markus Howard added 12 points each and Sam Hauser had 10 points for Marquette (2-0), which shot 51 percent and had 22 assists. Howard and Hauser each went 3 for 4 from 3-point range.
Johnson’s 21 points lead Marquette past Vanderbilt 95-71
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Jajuan Johnson had 21 points, Luke Fischer scored 18 and Marquette spoiled Vanderbilt coach Bryce Drew's debut with a 95-71 victory in the opening game of the Veterans Classic at the Navy Academy on Friday night.
Haanif Cheatham added 15 points and Sam Hauser finished with 14 points for the Golden Eagles, who shot 39 of 74 (53 percent) from the field.
