DUBLIN, Calif. (AP) — Prosecutors in Northern California say a man has been sentenced to jail time for the brutal beating of his 9-month-old puppy.
The East Bay Times reports Friday that 24-year-old Joshua Tadduc, of Hayward, was sentenced to 30 days in county jail and three years of felony probation.

3 women lead police on long chase across SF Bay Area
HAYWARD, Calif. (AP) — Three young women led law enforcement officers on a 72-mile car chase across the San Francisco Bay Area that left a police officer seriously injured.
Twenty-year-old Chartanae Lovely, 21-year-old Davida Fortenbelow, and 22-year-old Laje Ford, ran from police from Hollister to Hayward, where the California Highway Patrol arrested them on Wednesday afternoon.

HAYWARD, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say the person shot and killed by police east of San Francisco earlier this week was a 16-year-old girl.
KGO-TV reports (http://abc7ne.ws/2nJgtZM ) Elena Mondragon of Antioch, California was shot by Fremont police while they were following up on a robbery investigation in the nearby city of Hayward.
The shooting occurred Tuesday night near the California State University, East Bay campus.
