HAZELWOOD, Mo. (AP) — St. Louis-area authorities are investigating how a man's body was delivered to a recycling center.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports workers at the Republic Services Recycling Center in Hazelwood found the body Thursday morning amid the recyclable materials.
Former teaching assistant charged with sexual assault of boy
FLORISSANT, Mo. (AP) — A former suburban St. Louis teaching assistant has been charged with taking a 7-year-old boy out of class and sexually assaulting him.
Thirty-five-year-old Deonte Taylor, of Florissant, was charged Wednesday with three counts of statutory sodomy. Bond is set at $250,000. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.

Mother of child who was accidentally shot gets probation
CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) — The mother of a 3-year-old boy who was accidentally shot and killed in her north St. Louis County home was sentenced to five years of probation.
Semaj Porter was sentenced Wednesday for child endangerment in the December 2015 shooting of her son, Xavier "Zae" Robinson.
St. Louis man gets prison for fatal 2012 police chase crash
CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) — A St. Louis man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for a 2012 police chase that ended in a deadly crash in Hazelwood.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 27-year-old Reno Witt Jr. was sentenced Friday. He was found guilty by a jury in June of second-degree murder.

Marshall, a Hazelwood firefighter, had pulled Tudor from the wreckage moments before. He realized his friend was paralyzed from a spinal cord injury.

Man jailed in St. Louis found dead in cell
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a cell in the St. Louis Justice Center.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/2lrkdBc ) reports that 33-year-old Jerrick Taylor of Hazelwood was found unresponsive around 2 p.m. Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Taylor was alone in his cell with no signs of foul play.
Man accused of beating girlfriend, locking her in dog crate
CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri man is accused of beating, stabbing and raping his girlfriend and confining her to a dog crate.

DNR identifies source of contamination in St. Louis creek
HAZELWOOD, Mo. (AP) — A suburban St. Louis paving company has been determined to be the source of a milky white substance that raised concerns for property owners along an area creek over the weekend.
The Department of Natural Resources says Pavement Solutions is using vacuum trucks to remove the contaminated water from Coldwater Creek, which runs through the Hazelwood area of St. Louis.
Tests underway on creek in Hazelwood area that turned white
HAZELWOOD, Mo. (AP) — Water samples from an eastern Missouri creek that turned white over the weekend are still being tested and it's too early to conclude what caused the problem, the state Department of Resources said Monday.
Coldwater Creek, which runs through the Hazelwood area of St. Louis, has been a source of concern for area residents for years after radioactive contamination was confirmed in several yards that back up to the waterway.
