Madison Bishop Morlino dies at 71 from apparent heart attack
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Madison Bishop Robert C. Morlino, whose backing of conservative Catholic Church teachings often put him at odds with liberal members of his Wisconsin diocese, has died. He was 71.
Morlino died Saturday night at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, the diocese said in a statement. Diocese spokesman Brent King said the bishop suffered an apparent heart attack while undergoing medical tests.
Man sentenced to 25 years in robbery heart attack death
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A man whose armed robbery of a Madison Culver's restaurant led to a bystander's fatal heart attack has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Nicholas Ivy and Xavier Fleming pleaded guilty in August to causing the death of 56-year-old Chris Kneubuehl, of Twin Lakes, during the robbery last year.
Judge Jill Karofsky said at Ivy's sentencing Friday that he caused Kneubuehl's death by refusing to let others call for help when the victim fell ill.

BERLIN (AP) — German prosecutors have filed charges against two Afghan teenagers over a dispute with a 22-year-old man in an eastern town who then died of a heart attack.
German news agency dpa reported Thursday that the 17-year-old and 18-year-old were charged with bodily harm resulting in death.
Authorities have said the man who died had severe chronic heart disease and that an autopsy showed he suffered a heart attack after being punched in the face.

SEATTLE (AP) — Obesity surgery may dramatically lower the danger of heart attacks and strokes in patients with diabetes, new research suggests, reinforcing evidence that benefits extend beyond weight loss.
The study tracked about 20,000 severely obese patients with Type 2 diabetes. Those who had weight loss surgery had a 40 percent lower chance of developing a heart attack or stroke in the five years following surgery compared to those who got usual care with diabetes medicines or insulin.
